Properties of Stellar Streams in the Galactic Disk
Stars of the Sirius, Coma Berenices, Hyades, Pleiades, Wolf 630, Dehnen 6, Dehnen 14, HR 1614, η Cephei, γ Leo streams, the newly identified two subgroups of the Hercules stream, and the streams BB 14, BB 17, BB 20, and BB 21 are selected using the ...

From Carbon to Cobalt: Chemical Compositions and Ages of z ∼ 0.7 Quiescent Galaxies
We present elemental abundance patterns (C, N, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, and Ni) for a population of 135 massive quiescent galaxies at z ∼ 0.7 with ultra-deep rest-frame optical spectroscopy drawn from the LEGA-C survey.

The Stellar Content of the Nuclei of Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
Widened, image-tube spectra at a dispersion of 120 Å mm-1 were obtained of the nuclei of 36 spiral (Shapley-Ames) galaxies. Spectral features in the region λλ 3800 - 4300 Å were used to assign a spectral index to each galaxy and to estimate the luminosity classes of the stars contributing the majority of the light at these wavelengths. Bulge magnitudes

STELLAR, GAS, AND DARK MATTER CONTENT OF BARRED GALAXIES [PDF]
ABSTRACT We select a sample of galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7 (SDSS-DR7) where galaxies are classified, through visual inspection, as hosting strong bars, weak bars, or as unbarred galaxies, and make use of H i mass and kinematic information from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA survey catalog, to study the stellar,

Vertical Density Distribution of the Galaxy from Star Count Analysis [PDF]
The five space density distribution D(z) with distance perpendicular to the Galactic plane were combined. The scale heights and the local densities at z = 0 of the thin disk, thick disk, and the halo components were estimated from the nonlinear least ...

The Stellar Content of the Local Group Dwarf Galaxy Phoenix
We present new deep $VI$ ground-based photometry of the Local Group dwarf galaxy Phoenix. Our results confirm that this galaxy is mainly dominated by red stars, with some blue plume stars indicating recent (100 Myr old) star formation in the central part of the galaxy.

Stellar Content of Local Group Galaxies - An Introduction [PDF]
In The Realm of the Nebulae, Hubble (1936) first drew attention to the fact that the Milky Way system and the Andromeda galaxy belong to a small cluster that also contains M32, M33, the Magellanic Clouds, NGC 205, NGC 6822 and IC 1613. Hubble also listed IC 10 as a possible member of what he referred to as “the Local Group”. Inspection of the prints of

The Stellar Content of the Nuclei of Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
Numerous studies have been attempted to determine the stellar content of the nuclei of galaxies. In the case of elliptical galaxies observations show that there is a change in spectral type from later to earlier types correlated with a variation from high to low luminosity (e.g. Faber 1977).
