Galectin expression profiling identifies galectin-1 and Galectin-9Δ5 as prognostic factors in stage I/II non-small cell lung cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Approximately 30-40% of the patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) will present with recurrent disease within two years of resection.

Research progress on biomarkers of traumatic brain injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Traumatic brain injury: From primary insult to secondary neuroinflammation and degeneration. Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common disorder of the nervous system and has become a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on patients and their social circles. Its main symptoms include dyskinesia, language

Suppression of Autoimmune Diabetes by Soluble Galectin-1 [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2009
Abstract Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease that targets the β-cells of the pancreas. We investigated the ability of soluble galectin-1 (gal-1), an endogenous lectin that promotes T cell apoptosis, to down-regulate the T cell response that destroys the pancreatic β-cells.

Additional file 4: of Nuclear FAM289-Galectin-1 interaction controls FAM289-mediated tumor promotion in malignant glioma

open access: yes, 2019
Figure S4. The effect of FAM289 and Galectin-1 on each other’s expression. A. Overexpression FAM289 or Galectin-1 did not affect each other’s expression. B. Knock down FAM289 or Galectin-1 did not affect each other’s expression.

Comparison of Receptor‐Mediated Endocytosis and Its Application to Enhance DNA Transfection by TFAMoplex

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

Galectin-1 promotes human neutrophil migration [PDF]

open access: yesGlycobiology, 2012
An important step of innate immune response is the recruitment of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) to injured tissues through chemotactic molecules. Galectins, a family of endogenous lectins, participate in numerous functions such as lymphoid cell migration, homing, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

The role of galectin-3 and galectin-9 in the chronic inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Fibroblasts are important regulators of inflammatory processes. The phenotype of fibroblasts differ according to anatomical site which may dtermine immune functions such as leukocyte accumulation and predilection for inflammatory disease in certain ...

The Third Dimension of Reading the Sugar Code by Lectins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Coding of biological information is not confined to nucleic acids and proteins. Endowed with the highest level of structural versatility among biomolecules, the glycan chains of cellular glycoconjugates are well-suited to generate molecular messages ...
