Indigenous amino acids in primitive CR meteorites [PDF]
CR meteorites are among the most primitive meteorites. In this paper, we report the first measurements of amino acids in Antarctic CR meteorites, two of which show the highest amino acid concentrations ever found in a chondrite. EET92042, GRA95229 and GRO95577 were analyzed for their amino acid content using high performance liquid chromatography with ...

Abstract Startle‐induced seizure is a rare type of reflex seizure triggered by unexpected sensory stimuli that often occurs in children with early acquired cerebral lesions or brain malformations. We report a unique case of adult‐onset epilepsy with startle‐induced seizures.

Abstract Background Abnormal sleep is commonly observed in the ICU and is associated with delirium and increased mortality. If sedation is necessary, it is often performed with gamma‐aminobutyric acid agonists such as propofol or midazolam leading to an absence of restorative sleep.

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

GABA-modulating bacteria of the human gut microbiota. [PDF]
The gut microbiota affects many important host functions, including the immune response and the nervous system1. However, while substantial progress has been made in growing diverse microorganisms of the microbiota2, 23-65% of species residing in the ...

Amino acid metabolism conflicts with protein diversity [PDF]
The twenty protein coding amino acids are found in proteomes with different relative abundances. The most abundant amino acid, leucine, is nearly an order of magnitude more prevalent than the least abundant amino acid, cysteine. Amino acid metabolic costs differ similarly, constraining their incorporation into proteins.

Abstract Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of vagus nerve stimulation using different modes in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE). Methods Children with DRE who underwent vagus nerve stimulator implantation between March 2019 and December 2022 were prospectively enrolled at the Peking University First Hospital.

Miniaturised control of acidity in multiplexed microreactors [PDF]
The control of acidity influences the structural assembly of biopolymers that are essential for a wide range of applications. Its miniaturization can increase the speed and the possibilities of combinatorial throughput for their manipulation, similarly to the way that the miniaturization of transistors allows the high throughput of logical operations ...
