Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

Serum bile acids as a prognostic biomarker in biliary atresia following Kasai portoenterostomy

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Serum bile acid levels predict outcomes in patients with biliary atresia who achieve normalized bilirubin levels after Kasai portoenterostomy. Abstract Background and Aims In biliary atresia, serum bilirubin is commonly used to predict outcomes after Kasai portoenterostomy (KP).

Serum gamma - glutamyltransferase is associated with albuminuria: a population-based study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Serum γ - glutamyltransferase (GGT) is implicated in the pathogenesis of endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. Albuminuria is a marker of endothelial damage and correlated with structural and functional integrity of the vasculature.

Noninvasive tests for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in a multi‐ethnic population: The HELIUS study

open access: yesHepatology Communications, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing in prevalence and severity globally, prompting noninvasive testing, yet limited data exist on noninvasive liver tests (NITs) including transient elastography (TE) in ethnically diverse populations.

Viability assessment and transplantation of fatty liver grafts using end‐ischemic normothermic machine perfusion

open access: yesLiver Transplantation, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract End‐ischemic viability testing by normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) represents an effective strategy to recover liver grafts having initially been discarded for liver transplantation (LT). However, its results in the setting of significant (≥30%) macrovesicular steatosis (MaS) have not been specifically assessed.

Serum alkaline phosphatase and γ-glutamyl transferase in acute pyelonephritis

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2019
Background : Elevated serum alkaline phosphatase (AP) and γ-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT) are commonly observed in patients with acute pyelonephritis. The goal of this study was to examine the clinical significance of elevated serum AP and γ-GT levels and

Glutathione secretion in buffalo milk and its gammaglutamyltransferase-mediated metabolism

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
The study examined the hypothesis that GSH is secreted into buffalo milk, and that some of the secreted GSH is degraded by the enzyme gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) within the milk space.

Multivariate Analysis of Hematological Stress Biomarkers and Welfare Domains in Organic and Intensive Pig Farming in Italy: A Pilot Study

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Intensive or organic farming systems may expose pigs to management or environmental challenges. Our preliminary results concluded that organic farming might enhance adaptive immune function, showing that improvements in welfare can translate into measurable immunological benefits, based on the correlation between welfare assessment and physiological ...
