Unveiling Phonon Contributions to Thermal Conductivity and the Applicability of the Wiedemann—Franz Law in Ruthenium and Tungsten Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal transport in Ru and W thin films is studied using steady‐state thermoreflectance, ultrafast pump–probe spectroscopy, infrared‐visible spectroscopy, and computations. Significant Lorenz number deviations reveal strong phonon contributions, reaching 45% in Ru and 62% in W.

The 157 Month Swift/BAT All-sky Hard X-Ray Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) on board the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory has been serving as a survey instrument for the hard X-ray sky, and has detected thousands of X-ray sources (e.g., active galactic nuclei, X-ray binaries, etc).

The BATSE experiment on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory: Status and some early results [PDF]

open access: yes
The Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) is a sensitive all-sky detector system. It consists of eight uncollimated detectors at the corners of the spacecraft which have a total energy range of 15 keV to

BATSE observations of BL Lac Objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) on the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory has been shown to be sensitive to non-transient hard X-ray sources in our galaxy, down to flux levels of 100 mCrab for daily measurements, 3 mCrab for integrations ...

Tailored Reconstruction of Polycrystalline CuO Nanorods Promotes C─C Coupling in CO2 Electroreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the polycrystallinity of CuO nanorods enables directional reconstruction into rod‐like structures that stabilize Cu(OH)2 and increase Cu+ ratios, while modulating interfacial water dynamics to enhance C─C coupling and boost C2+ product formation in CO2 electroreduction.

Interpreting the Multi-TeV Emission from GRB 221009A with a Second Electron Component Accelerated by Turbulence in the Jet

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The detection of very high-energy afterglow emission of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) 221009A by the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) provides a unique opportunity to probe particle acceleration in relativistic outflows.

A Self‐Curling Si3N4‐Biofunctionalized Nerve Wrap for Suture‐Free Peripheral Nerve Repair with Multimodal Regenerative Bioregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Si3N4‐enhanced bioactive nanostructured adhesive wrap enables rapid conduit formation in wet environments, simplifying surgical procedures. Incorporated Si3N4 undergoes controlled hydrolysis within nanofibers, multi‐directionally modulating the peripheral nerve repair microenvironment for effective suture‐free repair.

Subphotospheric Emission from Short Gamma-Ray Bursts. II. Signatures of Nonthermal Dissipation in the Multi-messenger Signals

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Building on a general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulation of a short gamma-ray burst (sGRB) jet with initial magnetization σ _0  = 150, propagating through the dynamical ejecta from a binary neutron star merger, we identify regions of energy ...

Epitaxial Interface‐Driven Photoresponse Enhancement in Monolayer WS2–MoS2 Lateral Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Surface potential distribution image, along with the derived electric field distribution across the interface, reveals that the electric field reaches its peak at the interface. Additionally, the spectral response of the heterointerface exhibits higher and broader features compared to its bare counterparts.

Subphotospheric Emission from Short Gamma-Ray Bursts: Protons Mold the Multimessenger Signals

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The origin of the observed Band-like photon spectrum in short gamma-ray bursts (sGRBs) is a long-standing mystery. We carry out the first general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulation of an sGRB jet with initial magnetization σ _0 = 150 in ...
