During its 9‐year lifetime in orbit, the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) detector, aboard the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO) spacecraft, observed a total of 76 terrestrial gamma ray flashes (TGFs). Of these, simultaneous broadband ELF/VLF data from Palmer Station, Antarctica, were found to be available for six new TGF cases in ...

Radio Observations of Transient Gamma Ray Sources with the Westerbork Array
1994Two γ-ray bursts have been rapidly imaged by COMPTEL (within ~ 6 hours of their occurrence) and their error boxes searched by Westerbork for evidence of a fading counterpart at radio wavelengths. These searches have revealed no likely candidate counterparts to the bursts.

BATSE, one of four experiments on the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO), is expected to provide the most sensitive observations of gamma-ray bursts yet obtained, as well as to provide long-term monitoring of hard X-ray and low-energy gamma-ray emission from bright pulsating sources, transients, and solar flares.

We present a concept for a coded‐mask All Sky Monitor based on Silicon Drift Detectors. The current design has a high level of readiness, minimizes the total weight ( 2 steradians and an on‐axis sensitivity of ∼3 mCrab (5σ, 50 ks). The intrinsic modularity of the detector allows to envisage experiments with different configurations, in terms of field ...
