Succinylation of Gamma Globulin
Nature, 1966THE chemical modification of proteins with succinic anhydride was shown by Habeeb et al.1 to result in an unfolding of the compact conformations of several proteins in neutral aqueous buffer. This was attributed to the large increase in net negative charge produced by the replacement of the positively charged e-NH3+ groups of lysine residues by ...

Abstract The occurrence of classical antibodies in human saliva was estimated by measuring the salivary γ-globulin. The immunochemical (precipitin) technique was uninfluenced by the complex content of saliva. It was qualitatively specific, accurate with an average error of +2.2 per cent, and highly reproducible.

Postgraduate Medicine, 1965
Gamma globulin is of value as a prophylactic or modifying agent in selected cases of measles, pertussis, infectious hepatitis (particularly in adults), congenital agammaglobulinemia, and rubella occurring during the first four months of pregnancy. Specific hyperimmune globulins have been found beneficial in mumps, smallpox, tetanus, eczema vaccinatum ...

Rabbit Gamma-globulin Allotypes
Nature, 1964ALLOTYPIC specificity of rabbit γ-globulins differentiating individuals of the same species, was first described by Oudin1. This kind of specificity is defined by means of reactions between rabbit iso-precipitating sera and the serum of individuals of the same species.

To the Editor .—The 1961 edition of "Red Book" of the American Academy of Pediatrics distinguishes between the adult and the child dose for the first time in its recommendations for the prevention of infectious hepatitis. This amounts to 2½ times more for adults than for children per pound of body weight. These recommendations resemble those of Krugman

Intravenous Gamma-Globulin Therapy
JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, 1996Initially used as replacement therapy in patients with hypogammaglob-ulinemia, intravenous gamma-globulin (IVIg) preparations are increasingly being used as treatment for various autoimmune disorders. Although expensive, IVIg has become first-line or adjunctive therapy in the treatment of disorders as diverse as autoimmune or post-transfusion ...
