Multicolor nanoring arrays with uniform and decoupled scattering for augmented reality displays [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics
For vivid, immersive overlay of virtual images onto background scenes in augmented reality (AR) applications, it is crucial for the display element to achieve controllability of spectral selectivity and transmittance level.

High-Brightness, Wide-Gamut, and High-Resolution Structural Colors via Ultrafast Laser Oxidation of Ti/TiO2 Films. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Ultrafast laser writing on titanium (Ti)–titanium dioxide (TiO2)–Ti sandwich films triggers controllable oxidation (〉200 nm) to create vivid, durable structural colors. The colors reach 〉 80% of the standard RGB (sRGB) gamut, up to 60% peak reflectance, and 30,000 dots per inch (DPI) resolution for art and anti‐counterfeiting.

Analysis of the color-oversaturation problem in WCGDs and promising EOTF-based solution strategies [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
The gamut and EOTF (Electro-Optical Transfer Function) of a display together determine its color performance. Gamut determines the range of displayable colors, and the EOTF determines the color accuracy and depth.

Smashed hits: Overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Though its trials are less monitored and recorded, music is no less subject to censorship than other forms of artistic expression, and the methods are much the same.

From Pixels to Physics: Probabilistic Color De-Rendering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Consumer digital cameras use tone-mapping to produce compact, narrow-gamut images that are nonetheless visually pleasing. In doing so, they discard or distort substantial radiometric signal that could otherwise be used for computer vision.

Effect of Color Output Modification Approach (COMA) on the gray balance: A mismatch of device calibration, destination and source profiles, and halftone screening

open access: yesJournal of Graphic Engineering and Design, 2020
The purpose of this applied research in the digital print production was to determine the influence of applied Color Output Modification Approaches (COMA) or Color Output Sequences (COS) to determine the colorimetric variations (COLVA) on the gray ...

Colour gamut mapping between small and large colour gamuts: Part I gamut compression

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
This paper describes an investigation into the performance of different gamut compression algorithms (GCAs) in different uniform colour spaces (UCSs) between small and large colour gamuts. Gamut mapping is a key component in a colour management system and has drawn much attention in the last two decades. Two new GCAs, i.e.

A Novel Laser-Based Display and Imaging Combined System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
Laser-based displays can offer a wide color gamut to the viewers due to the narrow bandwidth of laser source, which is quite different from traditional display systems.

A novel gamut expansion method based on combined global–local mapping for sRGB‐to‐ProPhoto conversion

open access: yesIET Image Processing, 2023
With the development of display technology, more displays can cover the wider gamut, but most of the content they show is based on a small gamut. It is significant to employ gamut expansion (GE) to expand the small gamut images to a wider target gamut ...

Geometry of Multiprimary Display Colors I: Gamut and Color Control

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Displays that render colors using combinations of more than three lights are referred to as multiprimary displays. For multiprimary displays, the gamut, i.e., the range of colors that can be rendered using additive combinations of an arbitrary number of ...
