Intraosseous Ganglia

Hand, 1981
A case report of a fifty eight year old lady with symmetrical cystic lesions in the bases of the metacarpal bones of both thumbs. The histology showed an intraosseous ganglion which has not previously been reported in this location.

Aspiration of ganglia

The Journal of Hand Surgery: Journal of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, 1986
Thirty four patients with a simple ganglion have been treated by aspiration alone, using a short-bevel wide-bore needle. In 41% there was no recurrence after more than one year, and most of the remaining 59% recurred with three months.

What, If, and When to Move: Basal Ganglia Circuits and Self-Paced Action Initiation.

Annual Review of Neuroscience, 2019
Deciding what to do and when to move is vital to our survival. Clinical and fundamental studies have identified basal ganglia circuits as critical for this process.

Ganglia in Children

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1985
Sixty-one children with ganglia treated surgically at the Singapore General Hospital were reviewed. At the wrist the predominance of dorsal ganglia over volar ganglia, which is the pattern in adults, was found only in older children. In children less than 10 years old, volar ganglia predominated.

The basal ganglia

WIREs Cognitive Science, 2012
AbstractThrough its connections with widespread cortical areas and with dopaminergic midbrain areas, the basal ganglia are well situated to integrate patterns of cortical input with the dopaminergic reward signal originating in the midbrain. In this review, we consider the functions of the basal ganglia in relation to its gross and cellular anatomy ...

Celiac ganglia block

European Journal of Radiology, 2005
Pain occurs frequently in patients with advanced cancers. Tumors originating from upper abdominal viscera such as pancreas, stomach, duodenum, proximal small bowel, liver and biliary tract and from compressing enlarged lymph nodes can cause severe abdominal pain, which do not respond satisfactorily to medical treatment or radiotherapy.

BASAL GANGLIA NEUROTOXINS

Neurologic Clinics, 2000
The epidemiology, clinical features, pathology, and mechanisms of action of basal ganglia neurotoxins are reviewed. Manganese, cyanide, hydrogen sulfide, methanol, carbon monoxide, 3-nitropropionic acid, MPTP, and annonaceae alkaloids are discussed. The probable mechanism of action for almost all basal ganglia neurotoxins is inhibition of mitochondrial

Basal ganglia macrocircuits

2007
This is the introductory chapter to an edited volume comprising 18 chapters written by 38 specially selected authors covering the anatomy, physiology, biochemistry/pharmacology and behavioral aspects of GABA in the basal ganglia. In this chapter the various nuclei of the basal ganglia are defined and their cellular structure, connections and function ...
