Development of 800 kV gas-insulated switchgear
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1992An 800 kV gas-insulated switchgear, with a capacity level recognized as the largest in the world, was developed as the first development of UHV gas-insulated switchgear, and good results were obtained in the type tests for this switchgear. With the gas circuit breaker and the disconnector used in this gas-insulated switchgear, tests on a scale ...

Real-time gas insulation state evaluation model of the gas insulated switchgear
2017 13th International Conference on Natural Computation, Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (ICNC-FSKD), 2017Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has been applied greatly in the ultra-high voltage (UHV) power grids because of its advantages of high reliability, compact structure, small footprint, low electromagnetic pollution and so on. Therefore, the real-time monitoring of its operation status is important for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of the power

SF6 concentration sensor for gas-insulated electrical switchgear
Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2014Abstract The use of SF 6 -N 2 gas mixtures in gas insulated electrical switchgear (GIS) is becoming more wide-spread. This is motivated by the reduction of environmental impact associated with SF 6 emission and the increasing number of GIS located in low temperature environments where pure SF 6 cannot be employed.

Development of 300/245kV, 80kA Gas Insulated Switchgear
2008 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2008This paper describes the results of the development and validation of the 300/245 kV, 80 kA GIS based on conventional 300/245 kV, 63 kA GIS and conventional free standing GCB, and describes the design approach of intake puffer type ES. The performance of this GIS satisfied all type tests and all special specification tests.

High voltage gas insulated switchgear: an overview
IEE Colloquium on GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) at Transmission and Distribution Voltages, 1995In 1967 the first gas insulated metal-enclosed switchgear went into service in the German 110 kV network. Today GIS technology is successfully used for voltages up to 800 kV. GIS is an attractive alternative to conventional air insulated substations (AIS) because of the increased availability, reliability and the reduced life cycle costs.

Gas Insulated Switchgear GIS - State of the Art
2007 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2007Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is a world-wide used technology to solve the needs and requirements coming from modern power transmission and distribution systems. In this paper the development of the GIL technology is presented, design features are explained and a focus is given to the manufacturing process to show the high quality of the production of

Gas insulated switchgear for medium voltage substations
IEE Colloquium on GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) at Transmission and Distribution Voltages, 1995High reliability and staff safety is the most important factor a modern medium voltage switchgear has to comply with. Together with the requirement for space-saving design, mainly in European countries, the development of switchgear models finally resulted in the most advantageous type of gas insulated switchgear.

Discharge-Based Diagnostics in Polluted Gas-Insulated Switchgear
2018 Twentieth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2018One of the most serious problems that cause the failure of the Gas insulated substations is the presence of contaminating particles inside its compartments as it adversely affects the withstand capability of the system. In this paper diagnosis of particles presence based on the detection of time-to-discharge is presented. This is based on the fact that

Advanced Metal Oxide Surge Arrester for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1984SF6 gas has outstanding dielectric strength and heat transfer property. This suggests that zinc oxide (ZnO) elements whose value of E in E-J characteristic is higher than the value of the elements used in a porcelain type arrester is suitable to metal enclosed metal oxide surge arresters (MOA) for gas insulated switchgears (GIS). Several kinds of newly

Partial discharge early warning system in gas-insulated switchgear
IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003Electrical, in particular VHF and UHF, and acoustical PD detection have shown to be very sensitive tools for on-line monitoring. To meet the requirements of after installation testing and diagnostics, a sensitivity of 5 pC has to be guaranteed. In particular, for proper diagnostics the signal attenuation has to be taken into account In practice ...
