Is Gastroparesis Found More Frequently in Patients with Cystic Fibrosis? A Systematic Review

open access: yesScientifica, 2016
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is associated with different gastrointestinal motility disturbances and syndromes. We aim to assess gastric emptying in patients with CF compared to healthy controls by a systematic review of existing literature.

Short‐ and Long‐Term Outcomes of Subtotal Gastrectomy for Remnant Gastric Cancer: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter study compared subtotal versus completion gastrectomy for remnant gastric cancer. Subtotal gastrectomy was associated with shorter operative time and significantly less postoperative weight loss, with no difference in long‐term survival, suggesting it as a feasible surgical option without compromising oncologic outcomes.

Impact of Prophylactic Cefepime on Surgical Site Infection and Severe Morbidity in Patients Who Underwent Pancreaticoduodenectomy With Preoperative Biliary Drainage

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although prophylactic broad‐spectrum antibiotics can reduce postoperative complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), the optimal regimen remains uncertain. This study evaluated the impact of prophylactic cefepime (CFPM) on surgical site infection (SSI) and severe morbidity after PD with preoperative biliary drainage.

Wirelessly Powered Soft Magnetic Robot with Microneedle for Electrical Stimulation and Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A wirelessly powered soft magnetic robot integrates microneedles to enable dual functions: electrical stimulation (86.7% efficiency at 6 cm, tunable 0–20 V voltage, 0.4–50 ms pulses) and drug delivery. It switches surfaces via magnetic fields for gastrointestinal tract locomotion and treatment, with in vitro validation in fresh pig gut showing ...

Effect of Acupressure on Amount of Gastric Emptying in Mechanically Ventilated Patients Hospitalized in Intensive Care Units

open access: yesحیات, 2014
Background & Aim: The major problem with mechanically ventilated patients receiving enteral nutrition hospitalized in the intensive care units is delayed gastric emptying. Acupressure can increase gastric motility.

A Novel Milli‐Scale Magnetic Robot Exploiting Rotation for Controlled Magnetic Particles Release

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Delivering magnetic particles can become a game changer in minimally invasive medicine. To cope with this challenge, a magnetically actuated milli‐scale carrier leveraging rotation to perform on‐demand tunable release of magnetic particles across multiple release events is presented.
