Histology of the gastrointestinal tract of the northern brown bandicoot, Isoodon macrourus (Marsupialia: Peramelidae)

open access: yes, 2011
Published information on the histology of the gastrointestinal tract of peramelids is limited, with previous research only examining portions of the tract. We examined the histological structure of the gastrointestinal tract of eight adult I.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Skullcapflavone II Inhibits SLC1A4‐Mediated L‐Serine Uptake and Promotes Mitochondrial Damage in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most lethal human malignancies worldwide. Serine metabolism is essential for meeting biosynthetic demands and regulating the redox state of GC cells.

Current Techniques for Treating Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors in the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Most gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) arise from the proper muscle layer of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract and have a low malignant potential. They are sometimes accompanied by symptoms, but in most cases are detected by chance.

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

Light‐Actuated Fiber‐Climbing Inchworm Robot Toward Endoluminal Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A kirigami‐inspired soft inchworm robot harnesses optical energy from a customized side‐emitting optical fiber, guaranteeing its propulsion along the fiber body. The wavelength‐selective responsiveness of dye‐functionalized liquid crystal elastomers and the application of temporal illumination patterns enable sequential control of robot components. The

Semi-quantitative CT imaging in improving visualization of faint ground glass opacities seen in early/mild coronavirus (covid-19) cases

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2020
Background Chest CT is an essential and simple diagnostic method for early detection of pulmonary changes in COVID-19 patients. Semi-quantitative technique depending on both visual and color coded images helps to improve the early detection of COVID-19 ...

Metatranscriptome analysis of the human fecal microbiota reveals subject-specific expression profiles, with genes encoding proteins involved in carbohydrate metabolism being dominantly expressed

open access: yes, 2010
The human gastrointestinal (GI) tract provides home to a complex microbial community, collectively termed microbiota. Although major efforts have been made to describe the diversity and stability of the microbiota, functional studies have been largely ...
