Role of GATA3 in tumor diagnosis: A review
Pathology - Research and Practice, 2021GATA binding protein 3 (GATA3) belongs to a family of transcription factors comprising six members. These proteins identify G-A-T-A containing sequences in the target gene and bind to DNA target via two zinc-finger domains. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of GATA3 in the diagnosis of tumors and its value as a prognostic marker.

The role of Gata3 in renin cell identity
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 2023Gata3, a dual zinc-finger transcription factor, is responsible for the identity and localization of renin cells in the kidney. Mice with a conditional deletion of Gata3 in renin lineage cells have abnormal kidneys with juxtaglomerular cells that lose their characteristic location and are misplaced outside and around arterioles and glomeruli.

The zinc-finger transcription factors Gata3 and ThPOK have both been implicated in positive selection of double positive (DP) thymocytes towards the CD4 lineage. As in the absence of Gata3, expression of ThPOK is lacking, Gata3 may directly regulate ThPOK expression.
