Strain Gauge Factor and Electrical and Magnetic Properties in As-Coldworked State of Iron-Nickel-Chromium Alloys Containing 35 wt.% Nickel and 0~20 wt.% Chromium

open access: yes, 2010
application/pdfThe strain gauge factor as well as some electrical and magnetic properties have been investigated with Fe-Ni-Cr alloys (in as-coldworked state) containing 35 wt.%Ni and 0~2 wt.%Cr. The strain gauge factor shows the maximum value of 3.65 at

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A Systematic Review of 3D‐Printed Flexible Strain Sensors: Materials, Architectures, and Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research
3D‐printed flexible strain sensors are attracting increasing interest in wearable health monitoring, soft robotics, and broader mechanical sensing because 3D‐printing enables compliant, geometry‐controlled, and increasingly integrated sensor ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Effect of Needle Gauge Size on Pain During Intravitreal Anti-VEGF Injection: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy
Introduction Concerns related to pain from intravitreal injections are one of the key factors mentioned by patients when asked about therapy. In this systematic review and network meta-analysis, we evaluate the literature of comparative clinical trials ...

A nonperturbative study of three dimensional quantum electrodynamics with N flavours of fermion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This work is concerned with the breaking of chiral symmetry in gauge theories and the associated generation of a dynamical mass scale. We investigate this phenomenon in the context of a simple model, three dimensional QED, where the complicating factor ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Evaluation of GPM IMERG-FR Product for Computing Rainfall Erosivity for Mainland China

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Satellite precipitation products (SPPs) have emerged as an alternative to estimate rainfall erosivity. However, prior studies showed that SPPs tend to underestimate rainfall erosivity but without reported bias-correction methods. This study evaluated the

How to Gauge Unknown Unknowns: A Possible Theoretical Explanation of the Usual Safety Factor of 2

open access: yes, 2014
To gauge the accuracy of a measuring instrument, engineers analyze possible factors contributing to the instrument\u27s inaccuracy. In addition to known factors, however, there are usually unknown factors which also contribute to the instrument\u27s ...
