Generation of attenuation-compensating Airy beams

open access: yes, 2014
This research was supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Council Programme Grant EP/J01771X/1 and Royal Society research grant RG130854.We present an attenuation-corrected "nondiffracting" Airy beam.

Ince-Gaussian laser beams as superposition of Hermite-Gaussian or Laguerre-Gaussian beams

open access: yesComputer Optics
Abstract: We obtain explicit analytic expressions for the Ince-Gaussian (IG) beams for several first indices p = 3, 4, 5, 6. Earlier, explicit expressions have been derived for amplitudes of the IG beams with p = 0, 1, 2 and without regard for the ellipticity parameter.

Exploring Pb‐Chelation Chemistry in the Crystallization Dynamics of Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanism of how Pb‐chelation chemistry governs coordination geometry and initial nucleation behavior at the precursor level of halide perovskite, by regulating the deprotonation state of a chelating additive, is elucidated. This allows for innovative reaction‐system design principles that promote coherent growth while suppressing defect formation in

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Propagation of Tricomi-Gaussian beams in a chiral medium

open access: yesResults in Physics
In this paper, propagation of a newly introduced Tricomi-Gaussian beam in a chiral medium is investigated for the first time. By using the Collins diffraction integral formula and matrix optical theory, analytical expression of Tricomi-Gaussian beams ...

Large Transverse Thermoelectric Effect in Weyl Semimetal TaIrTe4 Engineered for Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This experimental work shows that the anomalous scanning photocurrent response patterns of the Weyl semimetal TaIrTe4${\rm TaIrTe}_4$ under visible and long‐wave infrared illumination are due to a large transverse thermoelectric response of the material.

Dynamics of the Pearcey Gaussian beam in linear potential

open access: yes, 2022
The propagation properties of the Pearcey Gaussian beam based on the fractional Schrödinger equation with linear potential are investigated numerically. It was found that the Pearcey Gaussian beam produces a self-inversion phenomenon due to the effect of

Uniformity and Collimation of Incoherence Gaussian Beam With Divergence Based on Only One Fresnel Surface

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
An incoherence Gaussian beam with divergence is converted to uniformity and collimation simultaneously at a desirable spot size requirement by using one Fresnel surface.

Interplay Between Phase Evolution, Fe Migration, and Oxygen Redox in O3‐Type NaxFeyMn1−yO2 Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Why do Na‐ion battery cathodes, that are compositionally closely related, follow different structural paths during battery operation? This work shows how Fe content controls when iron atoms migrate from their original sites. Early migration locks the layers and blocks key phase transitions, whereas delayed migration permits fuller structural ...

Extension of filament propagation in water with Bessel-Gaussian beams

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
We experimentally studied intense femtosecond pulse filamentation and propagation in water for Bessel-Gaussian beams with different numbers of radial modal lobes. The transverse modes of the incident Bessel-Gaussian beam were created from a Gaussian beam
