Reconstruction of electrons with the Gaussian-sum filter in the CMS tracker at LHC

open access: yes, 2003
The bremsstrahlung energy loss distribution of electrons propagating in matter is highly non Gaussian. Because the Kalman filter relies solely on Gaussian probability density functions, it might not be an optimal reconstruction algorithm for electron ...

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...

Gaussian entanglement distribution with gigahertz bandwidth

open access: yes, 2016
The distribution of entanglement with Gaussian statistic can be used to generate a mathematically-proven secure key for quantum cryptography. The distributed secret key rate is limited by the {entanglement strength, the entanglement bandwidth and the ...

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Which is the right option for Indian market: Gaussian, normal inverse Gaussian, or Tsallis?

open access: yesIIMB Management Review, 2019
This paper models Nifty spot prices using frameworks based on Gaussian distribution (geometric Brownian motion) and non-Gaussian distributions, viz. normal inverse Gaussian (NIG), and Tsallis distributions, to investigate which model best captures the ...

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF NON-GAUSSIAN REGIME ORIGINATION IN NUMERICAL INTEGRATION OF ISOELECTROFOCUSING PROBLEM

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2012
The mathematical analysis of the problem of so-called “non-Gaussian” regimes in the computational solution of the integro-differential isoelectric focusing (IEF) problem is done.

Gaussian distribution of LMOV numbers

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
Recent advances in knot polynomial calculus allowed us to obtain a huge variety of LMOV integers counting degeneracy of the BPS spectrum of topological theories on the resolved conifold and appearing in the genus expansion of the plethystic logarithm of ...

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
