Seeing the GBM diversity spectrum

Nature Cancer, 2021
The complexity of glioblastoma is becoming increasingly recognized. Three recent studies used single-cell approaches that integrate cellular states, transcriptional trajectories, and metabolic alterations to uncover multiple dimensions of cellular and molecular heterogeneity and provide a framework for additional functional investigation and ...

WAC, a novel GBM tumor suppressor, induces GBM cell apoptosis and promotes autophagy

Medical Oncology, 2021
WAC is closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors. However, its role in human glioblastoma (GBM) and its potential regulatory mechanisms have not been investigated. This study demonstrated that WAC is downregulated in GBM, and its low expression predicts a poor prognosis. We investigated the effect of WAC on the proliferation of glioma

GBM Immunotherapy: Macrophage Impacts

Immunological Investigations
Glioblastoma (GBM) is an extremely aggressive form of brain tumor with low survival rates. Current treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery are problematic due to tumor growth, invasion, and tumor microenvironment. GBM cells are resistant to these standard treatments, and the heterogeneity of the tumor makes it difficult to find a ...

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)

2015
Abstract Central nervous system (CNS) malignancies vary widely in their morphological and clinical characteristics, the varying patient groups affected, as well as in terms of outcome. Of all the CNS malignancies, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is arguably the most devastating.

Comparison of glioblastoma (GBM) molecular classification methods.

Seminars in Cancer Biology, 2018
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive and common form of brain cancer in adults. GBM is characterized by poor survival and remarkably high tumors heterogeneity (both intertumoral and intratumoral), and lack of effective therapies.

Diabetic nephropathy with anti-GBM nephritis

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1998
Immune complex glomerulonephritis can be superimposed on diabetic glomerulosclerosis. Idiopathic membranous glomerulonephritis, immunoglobulin (Ig) A glomerulonephritis, Henoch-Schönlein nephritis, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, minimal change glomerulonephritis, postinfectious glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis, amyloidosis, focal ...

Anti-GBM disease in pregnancy

BMJ Case Reports
We present the case of a pregnant woman in her 20s who presented in her second trimester with severe pulmonary haemorrhage and dialysis-dependent acute kidney failure due to antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease. Responding to therapy, she recovered kidney function and delivered a baby.
