Abstract Lead potassium niobate Pb 2 KNb 5 O 15 (PKN) and gadolinium potassium niobate GdK 2 Nb 5 O 15 (GKN) thin films were grown on (001)MgO single crystal substrates using pulsed laser deposition technique. PKN and GKN thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction and their linear optical properties were determined.

Abstract We have grown a single oriented GdK 2 Nb 5 O 15 ferroelectric thin film with tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure by pulsed laser deposition on SrRuO 3 /La 0.5 Sr 0.5 CoO 3 bi-buffered MgO substrate. GKN thin film exhibits a single phase and (0 0  l )-orientation with tall and narrow asperities.
