Ordered Nanostructural Engineering of Cathode Catalyst Layer With High Mass Transport Efficiency for High‐Performance Ultra‐Low Pt Loading Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
An ordered cathode catalyst layer with efficient mass transport capability was developed based on the ALD of Pt onto VACNTs for high‐performance ultra‐low Pt loading PEMFC. The order‐structured cathode catalyst layer (CCL) has been considered the most promising solution to construct low‐cost proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) with an ultra ...

GDL Object

open access: yes, 2001
It is all too common for technology companies to seek a new route to solving the same problem but for the most part the solutions address the effect and not the cause.

In silico prediction and structural characterization of multifunctional bioactive peptides released from olive proteins

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 9, Page 5463-5482, July 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Olive (Olea europaea L.) byproducts, such as seeds and leaves, are abundant agro‐industrial residues and represent underexplored protein sources with potential health relevance. However, the repertoire of bioactive peptides that may be released from olive proteins during gastrointestinal digestion remains poorly characterized.

Multimethod Microstructural Diagnostics of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolysis Cell Components Uncovering Diverging Degradation Pathways After Short‐Term Testing

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
This study probes why polymer electrolyte membrane electrolyzers lose efficiency under different operating profiles. Using electrical tests, microscopy, and spectroscopy, Ti‐PTL passivation is established as the dominant cause for increased Ohmic resistance in samples aged under constant and triangular current profiles for 88 h.

Investigation of Water Vapor Diffusivity Through GDL of a PEMFC

open access: yes, 2009
Water transport through the gas diffusion layer (GDL) of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is of critical importance in the operation of the fuel cell. In this study, the transport of water vapor through the GDL is investigated.

Production Technology for Adding GDL (Glucono Delta Lactone) to Soy-Based Foods

open access: yes, 2021
The technology of adding Glucono Delta Lactone (GDL) to food made from soybeans is gaining popularity because it has many advantages. GDL is an acid that functions to coagulate proteins. GDL is a food additive that is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).

Understanding GDL properties and performance in polymer electrolyte fuel cells

open access: yes, 2014
The Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) has the important role of transporting the reactants into, and products out of the cell. This study aims to provide insights for understanding the relationship between GDL properties and the performance of PEFCs. Ex-situ

An Investigation of GDL Porosity on PEM Fuel Cell Performance

open access: yes, 2014
One of the design parameters of fuel cell is GDL (gas diffusion layer) porosity which helps to remove the water produced and accumulated in the catalyst layers toward the flow channels.

Unmasking the reactants inhomogeneity in gas diffusion layer and the performances of PEMFC induced by assembly pressure

open access: yesHeliyon
The gas diffusion layer (GDL), as the bridge to reactants and electrons in PEMFC, is a carbon-based porous component and would be deformed under compression to induce changes in the distributions of reactants and the corresponding performances of PEMFC ...
