Resilient Flow Regimes in the Rio Grande—Río Bravo Basin

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 42, Issue 5, Page 1038-1053, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Water is essential for human development and is an indispensable resource for economic activity and a country's growth. However, current water practices, along with increasing land‐use change, climate change, and agricultural practices, have significantly altered the hydrological cycle and water availability.

Mesoporous Copper‐Based Metal‐Organic Framework Flakes as a Promising Platform for Electrosynthesis of Ethylene from Carbon Dioxide

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2026.
We report a one‐pot green synthesis of a flake‐like, mesoporous Cu‐based metal‐organic framework for CO2 conversion. Its structure enhances mass transport and active‐site accessibility, promoting C–C coupling. In a zero‐gap cell, it achieves 51.6% C2H4 selectivity at 200 mA cm–2.

Tree species diversity drives above‐ground carbon sequestration through light‐related trait shifts

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1656-1675, June 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Functional traits can vary in response to tree species mixing, which in turn might influence biomass production and, consequently, carbon (C) sequestration in diverse forests.

Clinical Factors Associated With Current Relevance in Allergic Contact Dermatitis: Development of Predictive Models Based on Data From the Spanish Contact Dermatitis Register (REIDAC)

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 6, Page 614-623, June 2026.
This study has shown a moderate performance of the regression model to predict current relevance (AUC = 0.679), although modelling performance has been better for specific allergens (e.g., nickel with an AUC = 0.770). Furthermore, it has identified key predictors, including female gender, specific involved sites (hands, neck, head, legs, feet), and ...

Engineering a Gibberellin‐Switchable Dual‐Use Line Based on Ent‐Kaurene Oxidase Gene ZmKO1 Enables Two‐Line Hybrid Seed Production in Maize

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 4361-4377, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Male‐sterile systems are pivotal for maize hybrid seed production, yet existing systems are constrained by significant limitations. Here, we identified a novel single‐gene‐controlled recessive genic male sterility (GMS) mutant, defective in filament elongation 1 (def1), which exhibits non‐elongated filaments, unopened glumes, and non‐exserted ...

Effect of Graphite Type on the Electrical, Thermal, Mechanical, and Gas‐Barrier Properties of Ultrathin Composite Bipolar Plates

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 10, Page 9088-9101, 20 May 2026.
Schematic of the experimental workflow for evaluating the effect of different graphite fillers on the electrical, thermal, mechanical, and gas‐barrier properties of ultrathin composite foils produced via the Powder‐to‐Roll process. ABSTRACT This study systematically investigates the influence of graphite type, particle shape, and particle size on the ...

Investigation of GDL degradation behaviour by half cell tests

open access: yes, 2009
The objective of this work is to investigate the wettability of gas diffusion layers (GDL) by electrochemical tests and to analyse the change of hydrophobicity due to degradation effects.
