Abstract Satellites, equipped with electromagnetic sensors, can detect and locate the lightning electromagnetic radiation sources (LERS) in the thunderstorm over the globe surface of the Earth, delivering data regarding occurrence time, geolocation, and intensity. This paper presents the study on the three‐dimensional (3D) positioning of LERS utilizing

A Multilevel Optimised Algorithm for UWB Positioning in Indoor Environment
In ultra‐wideband indoor positioning systems, complex environmental factors such as multipath effects, occlusions, and non‐line‐of‐sight propagation often leads to decreased positioning accuracy and limited system robustness. To address this issue, this paper proposes a multilevel optimised estimation algorithm that integrates Particle Filtering with ...

Optimal Ground‐Based Anchor Placements for Least‐Squares Multilateration
We investigate the optimal placement of ground‐based anchors for three‐dimensional multilateration using a least‐squares approach. By analysing the error variance under the equidistance assumption, we derive a target‐independent cost function and propose optimal placements for both norm‐constrained and boundary‐constrained scenarios.

In this paper, based on the Huygens–Fresnel principle, we analyse the Loran‐C groundwave path and propose the groundwave path accumulation (GPA) algorithm, which calculates the groundwave transmission path in complex terrain in segments. It can improve the accuracy of Loran‐C users' packet positioning in high‐altitude areas significantly.

Research on Direction Cooperative Localization Model and Error Analysis for Manned–Unmanned Aircraft
To achieve cooperative reconnaissance and localization of manned and unmanned aircraft, based on the traditional direction‐finding cross‐localization method, a direction cooperative localization model has been developed based on different baseline criteria. Compared with the traditional methods which require the reconnaissance platforms locating at the

Deghosting method for cross localization in distributed high frequency surface wave radar
To address the ghosts emerging during the cross localization in a novel distributed high frequency surface wave system, a multi‐stage deghosting method is utilized, which is based on the geometric characteristics, the velocity features, and the motion features of the targets across multiple frames.
