Gear Train Mesh Efficiency Study: The Effects of an Anti-Backlash Gear
SAE International Journal of Commercial Vehicles, 2014<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In recent years, the focus on engine parasitic losses has increased as a result of the efforts to increase engine efficiency and reduce greenhouse gasses. The engine gear train, used to time the valve system and drive auxiliary loads, contributes to the overall engine parasitic ...

Minimizing angular backlash of a multistage gear train
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2002An optimization model is constructed to select the optimum reduction ratios that minimize the total angular backlash of a gear train, under constraints on the total reduction ratio and available space. It is found that a proper layout of reduction ratios has a major effect on the total angular backlash of a gear train.

Dynamics of gear-pair systems with backlash
1999Dynamics of gear-pair systems involving backlash and time-periodic stiffness is investigated. First, the equation of motion is presented in a strongly nonlinear form, with periodic stiffness and external forcing terms. Then, several types of periodic steady-state response are identified and determined by applying a methodology, that is suitable for ...

The Self-Compensation Approach for Backlash on Gear Train
2022© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Even if rotates unidirectional or bidirectional, a certain amount of space (free angular movement usually called “backlash”) between meshing teeth flanks are allowed for functional reasons.

Research on Vibration Responses of Gear System with Backlash
2020Gear transmission system is widely used in mechanical systems, such as joints in manipulator system. However, the vibration and noise caused by the backlash in gear pair are significant to the manipulator system. The effects of backlash on vibration characteristics the gear-rotor system are investigated numerically.

A Study on Effects of Gear Backlash on Differential Vibration
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Based on UG and Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical System (ADAMS), the 3D model of differential was constructed and the real-time dynamic simulation of differential was achieved. The effects of gear backlash between half axle gears and planetary gears on the vibration of differential are studied. To increase the credibility of simulation results ,

The correction of gear friction coefficients for backlash
Wear, 1978Abstract The backlash of gears changes as the centre distance between the drive shafts varies causing changes in friction losses and drive efficiency. Changes in the friction coefficient due to changes in backlash may be estimated theoretically but it was found that they require to be multiplied by a factor of about 5 to correspond to experimentally ...

Parameters Design Platform of Adjustable Gear's Backlash
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011Aiming at the merit and shortcoming of gear's backlash, the paper analyzes several typical gear drivec adjust action regulation. Seeks for the primary factor of influence gear backlash, establish the relationship between the adjustment parameter and the gear's backlash from the gear drive's meshing characteristic, then establishes the parameters design

Analysis of Stochastic Nonlinear Dynamics in the Gear Transmission System with Backlash
International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2015Abstract In order to study the different backlash, gear damping ratio and random disturbance on dynamic behavior of gear transmission system, stochastic dynamic equations of the three-degree-of-freedom spur gear transmission system are established considering random disturbances of a low-frequency external excitation induced by torque ...

Backstepping Control for Gear Transmission Servo Systems With Backlash Nonlinearity
IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, 2015The output tracking problem of gear transmission servo (GTS) systems with backlash nonlinearity is studied in this paper. A new concept—“soft degree”—is proposed to overcome the nondifferentiable “hard” characteristic of the backlash nonlinearity. Furthermore, a detailed softening process-static softening is presented, where a backstepping control ...
