Abnormal noise detector for gear units
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987An abnormal noise detector for use in evaluating the quality of automotive gear units or the like is disclosed. The present invention employs a microphone which picks up the noise produced by a gear unit being tested and an adjustable bandpass filter connected to the microphone which passes only those signals from the microphone having a desired ...

To solve a problem of transmission it is possible to design a special gear unit as follows. Its study can be prolonged or rapid. In the first case the result is a good product characterized, however, by exorbitant production costs. In the second there could also be some problems during operation as the solution has been adopted in a too hurried way ...

Finite element analysis of internal gear in high-speed planetary gear units
Transactions of Tianjin University, 2008The stress and the elastic deflection of internal ring gear in high-speed spur planetary gear units are investigated. A rim thickness parameter is defined as the flexibility of internal ring gear. Six evenly spaced linear springs are used to describe the fitting status between internal ring gear and the gearcase.

Investigating Vibration Sources of Faulty Gear Units
Key Engineering Materials, 2008A crack in the tooth root is the least desirable damage of gear units, which often leads to failure of gear unit operation. A possible damage can be identified by monitoring vibrations. The influences that a crack in the tooth root of a single-stage gear unit has upon vibrations are dealt with.

Synthesis of single differential gear units
Journal of Mechanisms, 1970Abstract By considering the kinematics and manner of incorporation of the essential element of all differential gearing arrangements - the planetary member - a basic arrangement for single differential gears is proposed. The modifications necessary to the basic form to produce either bevel-gear or cylinder-gear arrangements are examined.

Efficiency determination of cylindrical gear units in a back‐to‐back gear test rig
Tribotest, 1997AbstractA method is presented for determining the efficiency of gear units in test rigs with a mechanically closed energy flow, based on measuring the losses in the rig, that is, the torsion torque at the driving motor and the stabilised thermic level.

Deformability of units of a planetary gear and its effect on load distribution in gear meshes
Journal of Machinery Manufacture and Reliability, 2015A method is considered to determine the axis compliance of a planetary pinion subject to the deformation of the carrier web. It is revealed that the deformability of the axis, its mating parts, and sun gear affects the load distribution over power flows and rims of a two-row pinion.
