Nonlinear conductivity in CaRuO3 thin films measured by short current pulses [PDF]
Metals near quantum critical points have been predicted to display universal out-of equilibrium behavior in the steady current-carrying state. We have studied the non-linear conductivity of high-quality CaRuO$_3$ thin films with residual resistivity ratio up to 57 using micro-second short, high-field current pulses at low temperatures.

Scaling of the magnetic entropy and magnetization in YbRh_2(Si_{0.95}Ge_{0.05})_2 [PDF]
The magnetic entropy of YbRh_2(Si_{0.95}Ge_{0.05})_2 is derived from low-temperature ($T\geq 18$ mK) specific heat measurements. Upon field-tuning the system to its antiferromagnetic quantum critical point unique temperature over magnetic field scaling is observed indicating the disintegration of heavy quasiparticles.

Non-Fermi liquid normal state of the Heavy Fermion superconductor UBe13 [PDF]
Non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior in the normal state of the heavy-fermion superconductor UBe13 is studied by means of low-temperature measurements of the specific heat, C, and electrical resistivity, \rho, on a high-quality single crystal in magnetic fields up to 15.5 T.

Growth of Sr1-xCaxRuO3 thin films by metalorganic aerosol deposition [PDF]
We report the growth of thin films of Sr1-xCaxRuO3 on SrTiO3 and MgO substrates by metalorganic aerosol deposition. The structure and microstructure is characterized by X-ray diffraction and room-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM), respectively. STM indicates in-plane epitaxy and a small surface roughness for films on SrTiO3.

Magnetization study on the field-induced quantum critical point in YbRh_2Si_2 [PDF]
We study the field-induced quantum critical point (QCP) in YbRh$_2$Si$_2$ by low-temperature magnetization, $M(T)$, and magnetic Gr\"uneisen ratio, $\Gamma_{\rm mag}$, measurements and compare the results with previous thermal expansion, $\beta(T)$, and critical Gr\"uneisen ratio, $\Gamma^{cr}(T)$, data on YbRh$_2$(Si$_{0.95}$Ge$_{0.05}$)$_2$.

Symmetry-breaking lattice distortion in Sr_3Ru_2O_7 [PDF]
The electronic nematic phase of Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$ is investigated by high-resolution in-plane thermal expansion measurements in magnetic fields close to 8 T applied at various angles $\Theta$ off the c-axis. At $\Theta<10^\circ$ we observe a very small ($10^{-7}$) lattice distortion which breaks the four-fold in-plane symmetry, resulting in nematic ...

Divergence of the Magnetic Grüneisen Ratio at the Field-Induced Quantum Critical Point in YbRh$_2$Si$_2$ [PDF]
The heavy fermion compound YbRh$_2$Si$_2$ is studied by low-temperature magnetization $M(T)$ and specific-heat $C(T)$ measurements at magnetic fields close to the quantum critical point ($H_c=0.06$ T, $H\perp c$). Upon approaching the instability, $dM/dT$ is more singular than $C(T)$, leading to a divergence of the magnetic Gr\"uneisen ratio $\Gamma_ ...

Ferromagnetic quantum critical fluctuations in YbRh_2(Si_{0.95}Ge_{0.05})_2 [PDF]
The bulk magnetic susceptibility $\chi(T,B)$ of YbRh$_2$(Si$_{0.95}$Ge$_{0.05}$)$_2$ has been investigated %by ac-and dc-magnetometry at low temperatures and close to the field-induced quantum critical point at $B_c=0.027$ T. For $B\leq 0.05$ T a Curie-Weiss law with a negative Weiss temperature is observed at temperatures below 0.3 K.

Electronic nematicity and its relation to quantum criticality in Sr_3Ru_2O_7 studied by thermal expansion [PDF]
We report high-resolution measurements of the in-plane thermal expansion anisotropy in the vicinity of the electronic nematic phase in Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$ down to very low temperatures and in varying magnetic field orientation. For fields applied along the c-direction, a clear second-order phase transition is found at the nematic phase, with critical ...

Anisotropy of the low-temperature magnetostriction of Sr3Ru2O7 [PDF]
We use high-resolution capacitive dilatometry to study the low-temperature linear magnetostriction of the bilayer ruthenate Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$ as a function of magnetic field applied perpendicular to the ruthenium-oxide planes ($B\parallel c$). The relative length change $\Delta L(B)/L$ is detected either parallel or perpendicular to the c-axis close to
