Development of the critical exponent at the antiferromagnetic phase transition of YbRh2Si2 under chemical pressure

open access: yes, 2009
We present specific-heat measurements in the vicinity of the antiferromagnetic phase transition on single crystals of the alloy Yb(Rh_{1-x}Co_x)2Si2 for ...

Dimensional crossover of quantum critical behavior in CeCoIn$_5$ [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 100, 136401 (2008), 2007
The nature of quantum criticality in CeCoIn$_5$ is studied by low-temperature thermal expansion $\alpha(T)$. At the field-induced quantum critical point at H=5 T a crossover scale $T^\star\approx 0.3$ K is observed, separating $\alpha(T)/T\propto T^{-1}$ from a weaker $T^{-1/2}$ divergence. We ascribe this change to a crossover in the dimensionality of

High-resolution alternating-field technique to determine the magnetocaloric effect of metals down to very low temperatures

open access: yes, 2011
The magnetocaloric effect or "magnetic Gr\"uneisen ratio" $\Gamma_H=T^{-1}(dT/dH)_S$ quantifies the cooling or heating of a material when an applied magnetic field is changed under adiabatic conditions.

Do It Again: Repetition, Reproduction, Reenactment in Performance and Music

open access: yesPhilosophies
Any human action can be repeated; none can be repeated exactly. In fact, most human actions will be repeated—in its most basic sense, culture is the establishment of forms and standards of repeatability.

Effect of chemical substitution and pressure on YbRh2Si2

open access: yes, 2010
We carried out electrical resistivity experiments on (Yb,La)Rh2Si2 and on Yb(Rh,Ir)2Si2 under pressure and in magnetic fields. YbRh2Si2 exhibits a weak antiferromagnetic transition at atmospheric pressure with a N\'eel temperature of only T_N = 70 mK. By

Effect of nonmagnetic dilution in honeycomb lattice iridates Na$_2$IrO$_3$ and Li$_2$IrO$_3$

open access: yes, 2014
We have synthesized single crystals of Na$_2$(Ir$_{1-x}$Ti$_x$)O$_3$ and polycrystals of Li$_2$(Ir$_{1-x}$Ti$_x$)O$_3$ and studied the effect of magnetic depletion on the magnetic properties by measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, specific heat ...

Nachhaltige Ansätze für die Synthese von Calciumsulfat‐Hemihydrat

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
