Configuration transition in thin gelatin layers
2008By cold-drying thin gelatin layers form a matrix with triplehelical fibrils of preferred orientation. This orientation is variable and depends on the thickness of the layer. Indeed, this is no typical effect of the layer thickness, but it is related to the residual water content (moisture) in the nominally dry layers.

Properties and processing of the layers of dichromated gelatin for holography
SPIE Proceedings, 1994The methods of investigation of the microstructure and dispersion structure of holograms using different physical and chemical methods, including mercury porosimetry, optical and electron microscopy, X-ray micro analysis and investigations of latent images, are discussed.

Orientational order in surface layers of gelatin films
European Polymer Journal, 2001Abstract The dependence of birefringence in gelatin films of different thicknesses on the angle of incidence of polarised light was studied, and the surface birefringence of the film determined. The intrinsic optical anisotropy (α1−α2) of the gelatin chains was determined to be +120×10 −25 cm 3 from photoelasticity measurements on ...

Interfacial layers of complex-forming ionic surfactants with gelatin
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2015This review is devoted to discussing the results of studies of the influence of low-molecular weight surfactant additions on the composition and properties of gelatin adsorbed layers which are spontaneously created at water/air and water/non-polar-liquid interfaces.

Dynamic properties of gelatin/surfactant adsorption layers
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2016Abstract Simultaneous measurements of the dilational dynamic surface elasticity and surface tension allow the tracing of the main changes in the adsorption layer structure of aqueous mixtures of gelatin with cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC). At low surfactant concentrations (

Layer‐by‐layer structured gelatin nanofiber membranes with photoinduced antibacterial functions
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2012AbstractGelatin (GE) nanofiber suspensions prepared by the extrusion of an immiscible polymer solution blend were cast into nanofibrous membranes. An organic chemical capable of generating radicals under photoexposure, anthraquinone‐2,6‐disulfonic acid (AQS), was assembled layer by layer (LBL) onto the gelatin nanofiber membranes. The composite gelatin

Properties of microlenses produced on a layer of tot'hema and eosin sensitized gelatin
Applied Optics, 2007Gelatin sensitized with tot'hema and eosin (compounds used in medical therapy) appears to be an excellent material for microlens fabrication. Lenses are produced by irradiation with a 532 nm laser beam. Aspheric concave lenses are formed rapidly with low power radiation. The lens profile is analyzed, as well as imaging properties.

Study of gelatin as an effective energy absorbing layer for laser bioprinting
Biofabrication, 2017Abstract Laser-induced forward transfer printing, also commonly known as laser printing, has been widely implemented for three-dimensional bioprinting due to its unique orifice-free nature during printing. However, the printing quality has the potential to be further improved for various laser bioprinting ...

Bio-nanocomposites by Assembling of Gelatin and Layered Perovskite Mixed Oxides
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2006A new class of bio-nanocomposites based on hybrid gelatin-perovskite hydrogels was prepared by mixing exfoliated perovskite-tetraalkylammonium species in aqueous suspensions with gelatin solutions. Colloidal nanosheets derived from the CsCa2Nb3O10 layered perovskite re-stacked in the gelatin solutions give bio-nanocomposite materials with different ...

Moisture, Triple-Helical Content and Brittleness of Gelatin Layers
The Journal of Photographic Science, 1991AbstractThe triple-helical content of gelatin measured in dilute solution correlates with the brittleness of its cold-dried layer. The brittleness of the layer is low and, accordingly, its elasticity is high for a small triple-helical content of the gelatin and vice versa.
