Production of hollow-type spherical bacterial cellulose as a controlled release device by newly designed floating cultivation

open access: yesHeliyon, 2018
We developed a novel cultivating system for hollow-type spherical bacterial cellulose (HSBC) gel production without any molds or template. It consisted of floating aqueous medium droplet containing Gluconacetobacter xylinus (G.

Photoconstructs of Nerve Guidance Prosthesis Using Photoreactive Gelatin as a Scaffold

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2003
We devised a novel nerve prosthesis composed of an elastomeric gelatinous tube and multifilament gelatinous fibers, both of which were prepared from styrene-derivatized gelatin, which allows in situ formation of a bioactive substance-incorporated gel. An

ξ-Potential of Gelatin Layers Formed on Glass Surface

open access: yesJournal of the agricultural chemical society of Japan, 1969

Seasonal Changes in Vertical Distribution and Population Structure of the Dominant Hydrozoan Aglantha digitale in the Western Subarctic Pacific

open access: yesOceans, 2023
Hydrozoans are numerically dominant taxa in gelatinous zooplankton communities of the worldwide oceans and play an energy transfer role connecting primary producers and higher trophic level organisms. In the western subarctic Pacific, St.

Thermophiles and carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) in biofilm microbial consortia that decompose lignocellulosic plant litters at high temperatures

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The SKY hot spring is a unique site filled with a thick layer of plant litter. With the advancement of next-generation sequencing, it is now possible to mine many new biocatalyst sequences.

Sub‑surface gelatinous zooplankton assemblages and their seasonality in two Northwestern Icelandic fjords

open access: yes, 2022
This data set contains information about near-surface (about 10 m depth) gelatinous zooplankton assemblages and their seasonal changes from two neighbouring Northwestern Icelandic fjords, which were studied from April to September 2008. At five stations,

The susceptibility of poplar tension and normal wood (P. nigra) to collapse during drying [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات علوم چوب و کاغذ ایران, 2011
In this study, the susceptibility of poplar (P. nigra) tension and normal wood to collapse during drying was investigated. Thus, the poplar boards with nominal dimensions of 100 × 50 × 25 mm (L×T×R) were dried using three different drying schedules.

PalKCH1 and PalKCH2 are required for tension wood formation and gelatinous layer deposition in Populus

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Tension wood (TW) is a graviresponsive xylem tissue exclusive to angiosperm trees that counteracts gravitational stress. Its hallmark is a gelatinous layer (G-layer) in fiber secondary walls, rich in cellulose and low in lignin. Although kinesins mediate

A high spatial resolution transcriptomics of tension wood reveals the genetic program of contractile G-layer formation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Tension wood (TW) formation in Populus involves the differentiation of G-fibers that deposit a cellulose-rich, contractile gelatinous layer (G-layer).
