A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

Selection of a suitable reference gene for quantitative gene expression in mouse lymph nodes after vaccination

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2017
Background The quantification of gene expression is an important tool in the evaluation of the immune response to vaccines. Reliable reference genes for gene expression studies in mouse draining lymph nodes after vaccination have not been reported ...

Performance evaluation of different machine learning algorithms in presence of outliers using gene expression data

open access: yesJournal of Bio-Science, 2019
Classification of samples into one or more populations is one of the main objectives of gene expression data (GED) analysis. Many machine learning algorithms were employed in several studies to perform this task. However, these studies did not consider the outliers problem.

PICRUSt2: An improved and customizable approach for metagenome inference

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
One major limitation of microbial community marker gene sequencing is that it does not provide direct information on the functional composition of sampled communities.

Evaluation of gene value and heuristic function of alternate plans in multi database system using Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Database Management Systems, 2011
The major tasks in multiple query processing in multi database system are common operation or expression identification and global execution plan construction. Each query can have several alternative evaluation plans, each with a different set of tasks.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Towards a standard benchmark for phenotype-driven variant and gene prioritisation algorithms: PhEval - Phenotypic inference Evaluation framework

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics
ABSTRACT Background Computational approaches to support rare disease diagnosis are challenging to build, requiring the integration of complex data types such as ontologies, gene-to-phenotype associations, and cross-species data into variant and gene prioritisation algorithms (VGPAs).
