Vancomycin-induced deletion of the methicillin resistance gene mecA in Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]
To elucidate factors that contribute to the development of vancomycin resistance in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).Forty-nine MRSA isolates were subjected to passage selection with vancomycin to isolate mutants with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin.

Combating Staphylococcus aureus and its methicillin resistance gene (mecA) with cold plasma [PDF]
The increase in antibiotic resistance has become a global challenge to public health. In this study, an atmospheric cold plasma (ACP) system was applied for combating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and its methicillin resistance gene (mecA) during food wastewater treatment. The plate count and flow cytometry methods were employed to

Comparison of Real-Time PCR with Disk Diffusion, Agar Screen and E-test Methods for Detection of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a nosocomial pathogen. Our main objective was to compare oxacillin disk test, oxacillin E-test, and oxacillin agar screen for detection of methicillin resistance in S.

MRSA HarboringmecA Variant GenemecC, France
We describe human cases and clustered animal cases of mecA(LGA251)-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in France. Our report confirms that this new variant has a large distribution in Europe. It may represent a public health threat because phenotypic and genotypic tests seem unable to detect this new resistance mechanism.

Prevalence of mecC Gene in MRSA at A Tertiary Hospital in Medan, Indonesia
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is resistant to β-lactam antibiotics owing to the presence of mecA and mecC resistance genes. Resistance genes in MRSA are carried by a genetic component named staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec ...
