Asymmetric general oligopolistic equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yesThe World Economy, 2020
AbstractWe explore the effects of country asymmetries in a general oligopolistic equilibrium model with segmented markets. Firms' oligopolistic behaviour in segmented markets has macro‐level effects when countries' characteristics or policies are asymmetric. Due to their effect on strategic firm behaviour, country asymmetries can induce deviations from

Method to analyse welfare effect of transferable quotas in an open economy with rent-seeking for quotas

open access: yesMethodsX, 2022
Governments have introduced local individual transferable quotas (ITQs) to maintain fishery resource sustainability. However, quota rent-seeking activities by fishermen may weaken ITQ's resource conservation effect in countries with immature private ...

The Concept of Rational Behavior and the Problem of Learning from Error in Neoclassical Economics: With a view of the Austrian’s Critiques

open access: yesبرنامه‌ریزی و بودجه, 2021
The concept of rational behavior has a significant role in economics and its analysis of market economy and general equilibrium. On the other hand, there exists a logical relation between limits of rationality and learning from error. With explaining the

Analytical method to derive environmental policy effects in an endogenous growth model with leisure

open access: yesMethodsX, 2022
There is deep-rooted opposition to strict environmental regulations, stating that they will lead to job losses and production contraction. Identifying environmental policies compatible with economic growth and pollution reduction is necessary to promote ...

Dynamic Spatial General Equilibrium

open access: yesEconometrica, 2021
We incorporate forward‐looking capital accumulation into a dynamic discrete choice model of migration. We characterize the steady‐state equilibrium; generalize existing dynamic exact‐hat algebra techniques to incorporate investment; and linearize the model to provide an analytical characterization of the economy's transition path using spectral ...

Impacts of Direct and Indirect Tax Reforms in Vietnam: A CGE Analysis

open access: yesEconomies, 2019
The study applies a multi-sector multi-household static computable general equilibrium (CGE) tax model to assess the economy-wide impacts of taxes in Vietnam.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Collateralized Assets Prices and Monetary Policy

open access: yesRevista de Economía del Rosario, 2019
A well-informed and cautious financial system can improve the welfare outcome of an economy by making lenders surplus to borrowers. Nevertheless, in a crisis, the behavior of the financial system can become an amplifier of it, given that credit approval ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
