Computation of General Inner-Outer and Spectral Factorizations

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper, we solve two problems in linear systems theory: the computation of the inner-outer and spectral factorizations of a continuous-time system considered in the most general setting.

The Existence and Representation of the Solutions to the System of Operator Equations AiXBi + CiYDi + EiZFi = Gi(i = 1, 2)

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of general solutions, self-adjoint solutions, and positive solutions to the system of AiXBi+CiYDi+EiZFi=Gi(i=1,2) under additional conditions.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Nash Demand Game and the Kalai-Smorodinsky Solution [PDF]

open access: yes
We introduce two new variations on the Nash demand game. One, like all known Nash-like demand games so far, has the Nash solution outcome as its equilibrium outcome.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

The Nash Bargaining Solution vs. Equilibrium in a Reinsurance Syndicate [PDF]

open access: yes
We compare the Nash bargaining solution in a reinsurance syndicate to the competitive equilibrium allocation, focusing on uncertainty and risk aversion.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

The Wiener-Hopf solution of the isotropic penetrable wedge problem: diffraction and total field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The diffraction of an incident plane wave by an isotropic penetrable wedge is studied using generalized Wiener-Hopf equations, and the solution is obtained using analytical and numerical-analytical approaches that reduce the Wiener-Hopf factorization to ...
