Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Statistical process control to monitor use of a web‐based autoplanning tool

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the use of statistical process control (SPC) for quality assurance of an integrated web‐based autoplanning tool, Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA). Methods Automatically generated plans were downloaded and imported into two treatment planning systems (TPSs), RayStation and Eclipse, in which they were recalculated using ...

Entanglement signature in quantum work statistics in the slow-driving regime [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Research 6, 033297 (2024)
In slowly driven classical systems, work is a stochastic quantity and its probability distribution is known to satisfy the work fluctuation-dissipation relation, which states that the mean and variance of the dissipated work are linearly related. Recently, it was shown that generation of quantum coherence in the instantaneous energy eigenbasis leads to

RESEARCH OF SECONDARY BIOMATERIALS AS POTENTIAL ENERGY SOURCE FOR MINING LABOUR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The increase of ecology-economical indexes of mining industry processes is related largely to the improvement of existing and creation of new methods of conduct of explosive works.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Q fever outbreak in the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, Switzerland

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections, EarlyView., 2014
Abstract Coxiella burnetii infection (Q fever) is a widespread zoonosis with low endemicity in Switzerland, therefore no mandatory public report was required. A cluster of initially ten human cases of acute Q fever infections characterized by prolonged fever, asthenia and mild hepatitis occurred in 2012 in the terraced vineyard of Lavaux ...

Treatment planning with a 2.5 MV photon beam for radiation therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The shallow depth of maximum dose and higher dose fall‐off gradient of a 2.5 MV beam along the central axis that is available for imaging on linear accelerators is investigated for treatment of shallow tumors and sparing the organs at risk (OARs) beyond it.

Assessment of the impact of land cover changes on sediment yield: a case study

open access: yesWater Supply
Land use is one of the most important variables impacting river basin water and land resource planning and management. Sediment transport in streams is an important issue in the assessment of sediment deposition in dam reservoirs and its impact on ...

A generalization of working's model

open access: yesEconomics Letters, 1983
Abstract Working's (1943) model states that budget shares are linear functions of the logarithm of income; it implies constant differences between corresponding marginal and budget shares. A one-parameter generalization is proposed which allows each marginal share to be a linear function of the corresponding budget share.

Integrative analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients: a comprehensive approach

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study simultaneously investigated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients. The elevated expression of JUNB and CXCR4 in CTCs was a poor prognostic factor for SCLC patients, whereas exosomal overexpression of these biomarkers revealed a high discrimination ability of patients from healthy individuals,
