Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Tourism Research Frontiers: beyond the boundaries of Knowledge

open access: yesPASOS Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural, 2015
This critical book review scrutinizes the recent project of Donna Chambers & Tijana Rakic, entitled Tourism research frontiers. As the name indicates, this book explores the needs of finding new themes of investigations in tourism fields in a every ...

Matrix and tensor witnesses of hidden symmetry algebras

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Permutation group algebras, and their generalizations called permutation centralizer algebras (PCAs), play a central role as hidden symmetries in the combinatorics of large N gauge theories and matrix models with manifest continuous gauge symmetries ...

Dynamics of generalized tachyon field [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2012
We investigate the dynamics of generalized tachyon field in FRW spacetime. We obtain the autonomous dynamical system for the general case. Because the general autonomous dynamical system cannot be solved analytically, we discuss two cases in detail: $ =1$ and $ =2$. We find the critical points and study their stability.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

The Generality of Local Class Field Theory (Generalized Local Class Field Theory V) [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1957
1. The theorems of local class field theory are known to hold for all fields which are complete under a discrete rank one valuation and whose residue class fields (1) have no inseparable extension and (2) have, in any algebraic closure, exactly one (necessarily cyclic) extension of degree n for every integer n> 0.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Generic Bifurcation of Sliding Vector Fields

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1993
The author classifies the codimension 1 singularities which generically occur in one-parameter families of sliding vector fields arising from differential equations on \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\) with discontinuous right-hand side. In the paper is assumed that these discontinuities appear on the 2- sphere \(S^ 2\) and the solution orbits of the ordinary ...

Multiquadratic fields generated by characters of A

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2019
For a finite group $G$, let $K(G)$ denote the field generated over $\mathbb{Q}$ by its character values. For $n>24$, G. R. Robinson and J. G. Thompson proved that $$K(A_n)=\mathbb{Q}\left (\{ \sqrt{p^*} \ : \ p\leq n \ {\text{ an odd prime with } p\neq n-2}\}\right),$$ where $p^*:=(-1)^{\frac{p-1}{2}}p$. Confirming a speculation of Thompson, we show

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
