We consider efficient estimation of the Euclidean parameters in a generalized partially linear additive models for longitudinal/clustered data when multiple covariates need to be modeled nonparametrically, and propose an estimation procedure based on a ...

This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Generalized Additive Model for Predicting ECBR of Stabilized Subgrades for Pavement
This study presents a Generalized Additive Model (GAM) to predict the effective CBR (ECBR) of soil subgrade stabilized with recycled plastic waste under repeated loading (RL) conditions.

As an extension of the traditional Land Use Regression (LUR) modelling, the generalized additive model (GAM) was developed in recent years to explore the non-linear relationships between PM2.5 concentrations and the factors impacting it.

On the decomposition of Generalized Additive Independence models
The GAI (Generalized Additive Independence) model proposed by Fishburn is a generalization of the additive utility model, which need not satisfy mutual preferential independence. Its great generality makes however its application and study difficult.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Evaluation of oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.) site productivity using generalized additive model (Case study: Tarbiat Modares University Forest Research Station) [PDF]
Site productivity is a key indicator of forest ecosystem; therefore it is an important criterion for forest manager for estimating the yield, annual exploitation and growth, and choosing the most suitable tree species for sites as well.

Effect of chemotherapy on passenger mutations in metastatic colorectal cancer
Changes in passenger mutation load and predicted immunotherapy response after chemotherapy treatment. Tumor cells rich with passenger mutations have increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. Correlation of passenger mutations with neoantigen load suggests highly mutated clones promote a more effective response to immunotherapy, and therefore, first‐line ...

Association between the metabolic score for insulin resistance and prostate cancer: a cross-sectional study in Xinjiang [PDF]
Background Insulin resistance is associated with the development and progression of various cancers. However, the epidemiological evidence for the association between insulin resistance and prostate cancer is still limited.
