Analysis of Variance of Cross-Validation Estimators of the Generalization Error
This paper brings together methods from two different disciplines: statistics and machine learning. We address the problem of estimating the variance of cross-validation (CV) estimators of the generalization error. In particular, we approach the problem of variance estimation of the CV estimators of generalization error as a problem in approximating ...

The electrocardiographic imaging inverse problem is ill-posed. Regularization has to be applied to stabilize the problem and solve for a realistic solution. Here, we assess different regularization methods for solving the inverse problem.

Penalized likelihood estimation and iterative kalman smoothing for non-gaussian dynamic regression models [PDF]
Dynamic regression or state space models provide a flexible framework for analyzing non-Gaussian time series and longitudinal data, covering for example models for discrete longitudinal observations.

ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

penalized: A MATLAB Toolbox for Fitting Generalized Linear Models with Penalties
penalized is a flexible, extensible, and efficient MATLAB toolbox for penalized maximum likelihood. penalized allows you to fit a generalized linear model (gaussian, logistic, poisson, or multinomial) using any of ten provided penalties, or none.

Correntropy–based density–preserving data sampling as an alternative to standard cross–validation
Estimation of the generalization ability of a predictive model is an important issue, as it indicates expected performance on previously unseen data and is also used for model selection.
