On finding the ends of straight homogeneous generalized cylinders

Proceedings 1992 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2003
Algorithms to detect pairs of edges that could be ends of a straight homogeneous generalized cylinder (SHGC) are proposed. Geometrical constraints for the ends of an SHGC are utilized to group edge elements and edge segments in a complex image. Two methods are investigated.

Hydraulilc cylinder for generating vibrations

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
A hydraulic cylinder for generating vibrations which comprises: a cylinder body; a hollow piston rotatably mounted in said cylinder body; and a valve rotor rotatably engaged within said hollow piston, said valve rotor having a change-over valve portion adapted to be rotated for applying hydraulic loads to said piston alternately in axially opposite ...

Contour generation and shape restoration of the straight homogeneous generalized cylinder

[1990] Proceedings. 10th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2002
The author explores the properties of some simple artificial objects which can be modeled as straight homogeneous generalized cylinders (SHGCs). He considers the analysis of tangency contours of SHGCs by presenting the condition which must be satisfied by the points on the contour generator of any SHGC. The contour generator is planar in an end view or

The Static Cylinder in General Relativity

1999
For a certain range of a parameter m the Levi-Civita vacuum solution describes the exterior field of a massive static cylinder. When m = 0, the spacetime is flat, and when m is small and positive, the gravitational field can be reconciled with the corresponding Newtonian one. When m =1/4, the circular orbits of test particles become null, and for m > 1/

Thermoelasticity of Cylindrically Anisotropic Generally Laminated Cylinders

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1976
The effects of cylindrically curvilinear mechanical and thermal material anisotropy on the stationary thermoelastic fields of generally laminated cylinders are studied. To model the stated problem, each individual ply of the cylinder is considered to be composed of both mechanically and thermally cylindrically anisotropic media whose governing fields ...
