Smoothness of generalized inverses

open access: yesIndagationes Mathematicae, 2012
AbstractThe paper is largely expository. It is shown that if a(x) is a smooth unital Banach algebra valued function of a parameter x, and if a(x) has a locally bounded generalized inverse in the algebra, then a generalized inverse of a(x) exists which is as smooth as a(x) is.

On the existence of generalized inverses

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1974
AbstractConditions are given for the existence of a generalized inverse of a ring morphism, and the results are related to the theory of semi-simple Artinian rings. Necessary and sufficient conditions are also given for the existence of a generalized inverse of a morphism on real inner product spaces.

Projections for generalized inverses [PDF]

open access: yesLinear and Multilinear Algebra, 2017
[EN] Let R be a unital ring with involution. In Section 2, for given two core invertible elements a, b. R, we investigate mainly the absorption law for the core inverse in virtue of the equality of the projections aa and .In Section 3, we study several relations concerning the projections a a and bb , where a . a{1, 2, 4} and b . b{1, 2, 3}. Inverse Generalized Maximum Flow Problems

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
A natural extension of maximum flow problems is called the generalized maximum flow problem taking into account the gain and loss factors for arcs. This paper investigates an inverse problem corresponding to this problem. It is to increase arc capacities

The Geometry of Generalized Inverses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1975
Summary Generalized inverses of linear transformations must satisfy at least the natural requirement that they are true inverses for appropriately restricted subspaces. There are three other characteristics that may or may not hold independently.

Characterizations of Matrix Equalities for Generalized Inverses of Matrix Products

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
This paper considers how to construct and describe matrix equalities that are composed of algebraic operations of matrices and their generalized inverses.

Representations for the Generalized Drazin Inverse of the Sum in a Banach Algebra and Its Application for Some Operator Matrices

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2015
We investigate additive properties of the generalized Drazin inverse in a Banach algebra A. We find explicit expressions for the generalized Drazin inverse of the sum a+b, under new conditions on a,b∈A.

Generalized and inverse generalized synchronization of fractional-order discrete-time chaotic systems with non-identical dimensions

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
In this paper, we introduce two approaches to the generalized synchronized synchronization and the inverse generalized synchronization of fractional discrete-time chaotic systems with non-identical dimensions.

Gauss and generalized inverses

open access: yesHistoria Mathematica, 1980
AbstractAlthough Gauss did not formalize the notion of a generalized inverse, he provided the essential ingredients to produce one.
