Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

The Order of Generalized Hypersubstitutions of Type τ=(2)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008
The order of hypersubstitutions, all idempotent elements on the monoid of all hypersubstitutions of type τ=(2) were studied by K. Denecke and Sh. L. Wismath and all idempotent elements on the monoid of all hypersubstitutions of type τ=(2,2) were studied ...

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Mixtures of order matrices and generalized order matrices

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1977
AbstractThis paper deals with matrix representations of linear orders, mixtures of order matrices and the non-integral solutions of the linear systems defining them.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Posterior Cortical Atrophy in the Asia‐Pacific: A Report From the PCA Asian Workgroup

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) is a distinct dementia syndrome primarily affecting spatial abilities and visual processing. It is associated with degeneration in the posterior part of the brain. PCA is subclassified into PCA‐pure and PCA‐plus syndromes based on consensus criteria.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

Higher Order Hamiltonian Systems with Generalized Legendre Transformation

open access: yesMathematics, 2018
The aim of this paper is to report some recent results regarding second order Lagrangians corresponding to 2nd and 3rd order Euler–Lagrange forms. The associated 3rd order Hamiltonian systems are found.

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Generalized synchronization of fractional-order chaotic systems

open access: yes上海师范大学学报. 自然科学版
This paper investigates the synchronization problem of fractional-order neural networks with unknown subsystem parameters and time delays. By combining adaptive control and parameter updating, and based on the Lyapunov stability principle, some simple ...
