Validation of a Cellular Imaging‐Based Method as a Potential Biomarker for SPG4 Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) comprises a group of rare genetic diseases characterized by length‐dependent axonal degeneration of the corticospinal tracts and dorsal columns, whose main clinical feature is spastic gait. Pathogenic variants in the SPG4 gene cause Spastic Paraplegia Type 4 (SPG4‐HSP), the most common form of HSP.

Intracerebral Hemorrhage Induces Monocyte TNF Signaling in Patients That Is Suppressed by BAF312

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) causes high morbidity and mortality, with neurotoxic inflammation driven by infiltrating monocytes. This study is an in‐depth longitudinal examination of the immune response during the first week of ICH in the presence and absence of the immunomodulatory drug BAF312 (Siponimod).

Re‐Purposing Sapropterin (Kuvan) for ACTA2‐Related Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome: A Translational Mechanistic and First‐In‐Human Therapeutic Report

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multisystemic smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome (MSMDS) is an ultra‐rare, ACTA2‐related disorder characterized by severe cerebrovascular disease, aortic aneurysms, and smooth muscle dysfunction. Using molecular dynamics simulations and in silico drug screening, we identified that sapropterin dihydrochloride (Kuvan) is a candidate capable of ...

Stage‐Dependent β‐Synuclein Links MRI and Cognitive Decline in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Synaptic degeneration drives cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but synaptic biomarkers are scarce. Brain‐enriched β‐synuclein emerged as a synaptic damage marker. We investigated its diagnostic, prognostic, and structural correlates across the AD continuum.

Natural Numbers Generalized Parity, and the Collatz Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences and Modelling
An extended definition of the even-odd property for natural numbers is used to highlightprime numbers in their classification. For a given natural number $M$ and a chosen prime$P$, one can say that $PM$ is $P$-even-like, and $PM+K$, with$K = [1, 2 ...

White Matter and Perivascular Imaging Changes in Alzheimer's Disease and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Peak‐width of skeletonized mean diffusivity (PSMD) and diffusion tensor imaging–analysis along the perivascular space (DTI‐ALPS), reflecting white matter integrity and glymphatic function, are altered in Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Generalized Ramanujan Primes

open access: yes, 2011
In 1845, Bertrand conjectured that for all integers x ≥ 2, there exists at least one prime in (x/2,x]. This was proved by Chebyshev in 1860, and then generalized by Ramanujan in 1919. He showed that for any n ≥ 1, there is a (smallest) prime Rn such that

Nationwide Survey of Association Between Fever and Epileptic Seizure in CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder Revealed Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective CDKL5 deficiency disorder (CDD) is a rare, severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. There is a pressing need to develop effective and sustainable therapeutic strategies. We aimed to investigate the causal association between febrile episodes and epileptic seizures for therapeutic implications in CDD patients.

Old english semantic primes: substantives, determiners and quantifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The aim of this journal article is to apply the methodology of semantic primes to Old English. In this preliminary analysis the semantic primes grouped as Substantives, Determiners and Quantifiers are discussed: I, YOU, SOMEONE, PEOPLE, SOMETHING/THING ...
