Subdiffusive rocking ratchets in viscoelastic media: transport optimization and thermodynamic efficiency in overdamped regime. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2013
We study subdiffusive overdamped Brownian ratchets periodically rocked by an external zero-mean force in viscoelastic media within the framework of a non-Markovian generalized Langevin equation approach and associated multidimensional Markovian embedding

Thermodynamic bounds and general properties of optimal efficiency and power in linear responses

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2014
We study the optimal exergy efficiency and power for thermodynamic systems with Onsager-type "current-force" relationship describing the linear-response to external influences. We derive, in simple analytic forms, the maximum efficiency and optimal efficiency for maximum power for a thermodynamic machine described by a $N\times N$ symmetric Onsager ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Insight into Physical and Thermodynamic Properties of X3Ir (X = Ti, V, Cr, Nb and Mo) Compounds Influenced by Refractory Elements: A First-Principles Calculation

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
The effects of refractory metals on physical and thermodynamic properties of X3Ir (X = Ti, V, Cr, Nb and Mo) compounds were investigated using local density approximation (LDA) and generalized gradient approximation (GGA) methods within the first ...

Entropy Generation Analysis and Thermodynamic Optimization of Jet Impingement Cooling Using Large Eddy Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
In this work, entropy generation analysis is applied to characterize and optimize a turbulent impinging jet on a heated solid surface. In particular, the influence of plate inclinations and Reynolds numbers on the turbulent heat and fluid flow properties and its impact on the thermodynamic performance of such flow arrangements are numerically ...

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and
