RF power generation

open access: yes, 2011
This paper reviews the main types of r.f. power amplifiers which are, or may be, used for particle accelerators. It covers solid-state devices, tetrodes, inductive output tubes, klystrons, magnetrons, and gyrotrons with power outputs greater than 10 kW c.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Plasma pTau181 enhances the prediction of future clinical decline in amyloid‐positive mild cognitive impairment

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
Plasma pTau181, a marker of amyloid and tau burden, was evaluated as a prognostic predictor of clinical decline and Alzheimer's disease (AD) progression of amyloid‐positive (Aβ+) patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Steady-state model of multi-port electric energy router and power flow analysis method of AC/DC hybrid system considering control strategies

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study proposes a steady-state model of multi-port electric energy router (EER) and a power flow analysis method for AC/DC hybrid system considering control strategies. Firstly, a circuit topology model of EER is put forward, including AC and DC port

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Prevalence and associated factors of neonatal hypothermia in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Peter’s specialized Hospital, Ethiopia

open access: yesScientific Reports
Neonatal hypothermia, defined as a body temperature below 36.5 °C, is a global issue that significantly increases neonatal morbidity and mortality, particularly in low- and middle-income nations.

GENERALIZED SPACES OF GENERAL RELATIVITY [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1959
1. This paper is a revision of the paper with the same title which was published a year ago. The paper deals with a space of four dimensions V4 of coordinates xi as i takes the values 1 to 4. The geometry of the space is based upon the asymmetric functions gij and the asymmetric coefficients of connection Prk and upon the Einsteinm equation2 gij,k ...
