Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Impact of Distributed Generation in the Transmission System Expansion Planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, the impact of distributed generation in the transmission expansion planning will be simulated through the performance of an optimization process for three different scenarios: the first without distributed generation, the second with ...

A Comprehensive Overview of the Clinical, Electrophysiological, and Neuroimaging Features of BPAN: Insights From a New Case Series

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) comprises a genetically and clinically heterogeneous group of rare neurological disorders characterized particularly by iron accumulation in the basal ganglia. To date, 15 genes have been associated with NBIA.

Market-Based Generation Expansion Planning

open access: yes2024 20th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)
Generation expansion planning is the problem of determining the optimal type of energy technologies to be installed, time, and construction location. This problem becomes even more complicated within the context of electricity markets, including their volatilities and shocks.

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Optimal Generation Expansion Planning for Electric Utilities Using Decomposition and Probabilistic Simulation Techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Three related methods are presented for determining the least-cost generating capacity investments required to meet given future demands for electricity. The models are based on application of large-scale mathematical programming decomposition techniques.

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...
