SALMONN: Towards Generic Hearing Abilities for Large Language Models

International Conference on Learning Representations, 2023
Hearing is arguably an essential ability of artificial intelligence (AI) agents in the physical world, which refers to the perception and understanding of general auditory information consisting of at least three types of sounds: speech, audio events ...

Explicit Generalization as Generalization of Semantic Generalization

2015 3rd International Conference on Applied Computing and Information Technology/2nd International Conference on Computational Science and Intelligence, 2015
The semantic generalization was proposed. This generalization makes it possible for a kind of class to have attributes by considering the semantics of the attributes of the subclasses even if there is no common attribute in the subclasses. The attributes generalized can be specified by users rather than automatically decided.

GOT-10k: A Large High-Diversity Benchmark for Generic Object Tracking in the Wild

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2018
We introduce here a large tracking database that offers an unprecedentedly wide coverage of common moving objects in the wild, called GOT-10k. Specifically, GOT-10k is built upon the backbone of WordNet structure [1] and it populates the majority of over

A Generalization of the Least General Generalization

1994
Abstract In this chapter, we present a polynomial time algorithm, called a k-minimal multiple generalization (k-mmg) algorithm, where k ≥ 1, and its application to inductive learning problems. The algorithm is a natural extension of the least general generalization algorithm developed by Plotkin and Reynolds.

A generic communication scheduler for distributed DNN training acceleration

Symposium on Operating Systems Principles, 2019
We present ByteScheduler, a generic communication scheduler for distributed DNN training acceleration. ByteScheduler is based on our principled analysis that partitioning and rearranging the tensor transmissions can result in optimal results in theory ...

Personality-Assisted Multi-Task Learning for Generic and Personalized Image Aesthetics Assessment

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2020
Traditional image aesthetics assessment (IAA) approaches mainly predict the average aesthetic score of an image. However, people tend to have different tastes on image aesthetics, which is mainly determined by their subjective preferences.
