Towards a Java Subtyping Operad

open access: yes, 2017
The subtyping relation in Java exhibits self-similarity. The self-similarity in Java subtyping is interesting and intricate due to the existence of wildcard types and, accordingly, the existence of three subtyping rules for generic types: covariant ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Multiple policies to enhance prescribing efficiency for established medicines in Europe with a particular focus on demand-side measures: findings and future implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2014
Introduction: The appreciable growth in pharmaceutical expenditure has resulted in multiple initiatives across Europe to lower generic prices and enhance their utilisation. However, considerable variation in their use and prices.

From Generation to Generation [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2019
This work (Fig. 1) is a geometric abstraction that I created using pencil, ink, and acrylic paint on canvas. It could be interpreted as a spatial representation of time, peering along the branches of a pedigree or phylogenetic tree. The tree consists of three main branches with “cousins” on two of the branches connected by …

Cotargeting TREM2 and IL2 pathways triggers multipronged anticancer immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Von Locquenghien et al. report that MiTE‐144, a triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) blocking antibody fused to interleukin‐2 (IL2) variant with tumour microenvironment restricted activation, demonstrates superior anticancer efficiency in a preclinical setting.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Generics and Context: Do Counterexamples Dissuade Acceptance of True Generic Statements?

open access: yesStudies in Logic, Grammar and Rhetoric
This study investigates whether the salience of counterexamples in discourse affects the acceptance of true generic statements. Building on previous theoretical and experimental work on generics, we examine whether generics are sensitive to contextual ...

Generics versus branded generics: A case of confusion

open access: yesIndian Journal of Community and Family Medicine
Generic medicines are generally marketed under international nonproprietary names but may also be marketed by a pharmaceutical company under a brand name, i.e. branded generics.
