ABSTRACT Introduction Nonhuman primates (NHPs) can transmit zoonotic diseases to humans because of their close genetic relationship, facilitating the cross‐species transmission of certain pathogens. In Thailand, Macaca is the most common NHP genus and their inhabits area are in close proximity of human, particularly in urban and suburban areas, where ...

Anthelmintic Resistance in Ancylostoma caninum: A Comprehensive Review
This review summarizes the emergence of anthelmintic resistance in Ancylostoma caninum, with a focus on drug classes affected, global prevalence and resistance mechanisms. Early detection and integrated control strategies are essential to combat its spread.

Schistosomes are parasitic helminths with a complex life cycle in human and snail hosts. They express stage-specific genes that conceivably determine distinct properties of the parasite at different developmental stages. Here we report the stage-specific gene SmSPO-1, which is preferentially expressed in sporocysts residing in the snail host.

Impact of Experimental Hookworm Infection on the Human Gut Microbiota [PDF]
The interactions between gastrointestinal parasitic helminths and commensal bacteria are likely to play a pivotal role in the establishment of host-parasite cross-talk, ultimately shaping the development of the intestinal immune system.

ILC2 Diversity, Location, and Function in Pulmonary Disease
ABSTRACT Type‐2 inflammation is driven by the production of canonical type‐2 cytokines IL‐4, IL‐5, and IL‐13. Type‐2 cytokines promote mucus production, innate immune cell recruitment, and smooth muscle contractility in mucosal tissues. These hallmarks of type‐2 inflammation are important contributors to the weep‐and‐sweep responses observed in the ...

Human ascariasis: diagnostics update [PDF]
Soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) infect over one billion people worldwide. Ascariasis may mimic a number of conditions, and individual clinical diagnosis often requires a thorough work-up.

Recombinant enolase and 16.5 tegumentary proteins from F. hepatica EVs may influence the progression of fibrosis, altering cell growth, proteomic profiles, and EVs secretion in macrophages, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and hepatocytes. r‐Fhenolase reduced fibrosis markers in HSCs and exhibited anti‐inflammatory properties in macrophages, and r‐Fh16 ...

Comorbidities of Primary Scarring Alopecias: A Retrospective Multi‐Site Cross‐Sectional Study
This study was a retrospective chart review evaluating the prevalence of systemic comorbidities in scarring alopecia (n = 240) compared to the general U.S. population. Scarring alopecia patients were found to have higher rates of vitamin D deficiency, metabolic syndrome, depression, anxiety, thyroid disease, uterine fibroids, anemia, atopy ...

Association of SIRT6 Expression With Risk of Pneumonitis Induced by Radiotherapy in Cancer Patients
ABSTRACT Thoracic tumours represent a significant proportion of malignant cancers. While radiotherapy (RT) improves prognosis, it can also lead to side effects such as radiation‐induced pneumonitis (RP). Since SIRT6 is involved in DNA repair, energy metabolism and inflammation, this study aims to investigate the expression of SIRT6 in lymphocytes as a ...
