Copy number variations (CNVs) are a major source of structural variation in mammalian genomes. Here, we characterized the genome-wide CNV in 2059 sheep from 67 populations all over the world using the Ovine Infinium HD (600K) SNP BeadChip.

Hypertension is one of the primary risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). It is a condition that affects people worldwide, and its prevalence is increasing due to several factors, such as lack of physical activity, population aging,

Global genetic heterogeneity in adaptive traits [PDF]
Abstract Understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits is a major objective in biology. The standard approach for doing so is genome-wide association studies (GWAS), which aim to identify genetic polymorphisms responsible for variation in traits of interest.

THE POPULATION GENETICS OF ADAPTATION: THE ADAPTATION OF DNA SEQUENCES [PDF]
I describe several patterns characterizing the genetics of adaptation at the DNA level. Following Gillespie (1983, 1984, 1991), I consider a population presently fixed for the ith best allele at a locus and study the sequential substitution of favorable mutations that results in fixation of the fittest DNA sequence locally available.

Coloration and the Genetics of Adaptation
Coat color is often used as camouflage and so has evolutionary benefit. How is coat color determined?

Genetics in Light of Transcriptional Adaptation
Genetics has recently benefited from the genome engineering revolution: genes can be knocked out, knocked down, or activated more easily than ever before. This range of genetic manipulations has also provided a range of outcomes, sometimes contradictory. But how much interesting biology hides within these discrepancies?

ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

AtPADRE13 Negatively Regulates Salt Stress Tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana
The PADRE (Pathogen and abiotic stress response, cadmium tolerance, disordered region-containing) family of genes, which contains the structural DUF4228 domain of unknown function (DUF), has been reported to be associated with plant responses to abiotic ...
