GENETIC DIVERSITY OF CHRYSANTHEMUM PLANTS DERIVED VIA SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS USING RAPD MARKERS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2017
The genetic diversity was investigated among two chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum × grandiflorum Ramat./Kitam.) cultivars ‘Lady Salmon’ and ‘Lady Vitroflora’ and its 15 lines of plants derived from somatic embryos in using ten random amplified polymorphic ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Habitat continuity and geographic distance predict population genetic differentiation in giant kelp [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Isolation by distance (IBD) models are widely used to predict levels of genetic connectivity as a function of Euclidean distance, and although recent studies have used GIS-landscape ecological approaches to improve the predictability of spatial genetic ...

Inflammation-associated enterotypes, host genotype, cage and inter-individual effects drive gut microbiota variation in common laboratory mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Murine models are a crucial component of gut microbiome research. Unfortunately, a multitude of genetic backgrounds and experimental setups, together with inter-individual variation, complicates cross-study comparisons and a global ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

How Far Away is an Intangible? Services FDI and Distance [PDF]

open access: yes
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in services has grown significantly in recent years. Evidence of spatial relationships in FDI decisions have been provided for goods manufacturing by utilizing physical distance-based measures of trade costs.

Privacy-Preserving Genetic Relatedness Test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An increasing number of individuals are turning to Direct-To-Consumer (DTC) genetic testing to learn about their predisposition to diseases, traits, and/or ancestry. DTC companies like 23andme and Ancestry.com have started to offer popular and affordable

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Genetic variation in three paddlefish (Polyodon spathula Walbaum) stocks based on microsatellite DNA analysis

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2012
There are two stocks of American paddlefish Polyodon spathula in Poland, one in Pogorze and the other in Wasosze. These stocks were established from small quantities of eggs imported from the USA in 1995.
