Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Results of Evolution Supervised by Genetic Algorithms

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2010
The efficiency of a genetic algorithm is frequently assessed using a series of operators of evolution like crossover operators, mutation operators or other dynamic parameters.

Fuzzy Classifier Design using Modified Genetic Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2010
Development of fuzzy if- then rules and formation of membership functions are the important consideration in designing a fuzzy classifier system. This paper presents a Modified Genetic Algorithm (ModGA) approach to obtain the optimal rule set and the ...

Information Operator Scheduling by Genetic Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper, we discuss an approach to an operator scheduling problem in a large organization over time with the aim of maintaining service quality and reducing total labor costs. We propose a genetic algorithm (GA) with a parameterized fitness function inspired by homotopy methods and with null mutation to handle a variable number of operators.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A Social Based Model For Genetic Algorithms. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Genetic algorithms (GAs), as a general search model, have proved its success in several applications, however, recently, several researchers have argued that they have slow convergence; this slowness is due to the randomness in all their operations ...

Analysis Effect of Parameters of Genetic Algorithm on a Model for Optimization Design of Sustainable Supply Chain Network Under Disruption Risks

open access: yesManagement Systems in Production Engineering
Over the last decade, our world exposed to many types of unpredictable disasters (recently Coronavirus). These disasters have clearly shown the uncertainty and vulnerability of supply chain systems.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
