L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

RNA‐related functions of BRCA2 in transcription, replication, and genome stability

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in homologous recombination, BRCA2 regulates R‐loop homeostasis, DNA–RNA hybrid resolution, RNA polymerase II dynamics, and transcriptional activation. Disruption of any of these functions can contribute to genome instability, inflammatory signaling, and tumorigenesis. BRCA2 is a central tumor suppressor protein best known for its roles

Targeting Inhibin Enhances Wagyu Oocyte Competence and Embryo Quality: A Comparative Study of In Vivo Immunization and In Vitro Antibody Supplementation

open access: yesAntioxidants
High-efficiency Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) and in vitro embryo production (IVP) are critical for the genetic improvement of high-value Wagyu cattle. However, oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction during oocyte maturation remain major bottlenecks ...

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

A genetic approach for synthesizing metabolic models from time series

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we introduce a new approach, based on genetic algorithms and multiple linear regression, for the synthesis of flux regulation functions in metabolic models from observed time series.

Plasmid-encoded phosphatase RapP enhances cell growth in non-domesticated Bacillus subtilis strains

open access: yesNature Communications
The trade-off between rapid growth and other important physiological traits (e.g., survival and adaptability) poses a fundamental challenge for microbes to achieve fitness maximization. Studies on Bacillus subtilis biology often use strains derived after

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Genetic variant for behavioral regulation factor of executive function and its possible brain mechanism in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

open access: yes, 2018
As a childhood-onset psychiatric disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is complicated by phenotypic and genetic heterogeneity. Lifelong executive function deficits in ADHD are described in many literatures and have been proposed as ...
