Genetic algorithms with age structure

Soft Computing - A Fusion of Foundations, Methodologies and Applications, 1997
This paper deals with genetic algorithms with age structure. Evolutionary optimization methods have been successfully applied to complex optimization problems, but the evolutionary optimization methods have a problem of bias in candidate solutions due to genetic drift in search.

Structure and Genetic Expression of Papillomaviruses

Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America, 1987
This article reviews the physical structures, genetic organization, expression, and regulation of papillomaviruses. In view of the extensive characterization of cellular transformation and viral functions that have been achieved in experimentally infected animals and in transformed cell cultures, the bovine papillomavirus type 1 (BPV-1) and Shope ...

Genetic Structure in the United Kingdom

Human Heredity, 1974
The degree of differentiation of gene frequency as measured by inbreeding coefficient is obtained for the ABO and Rh blood groups in the United Kingdom. The total inbreeding coefficients in the United Kingdom for the ABO and Rh blood groups are 0.0040 and 0.0027, respectively.

Structure abstraction and genetic programming

Proceedings of the 1999 Congress on Evolutionary Computation-CEC99 (Cat. No. 99TH8406), 2003
The selection of program representation can have strong impact on the performance of genetic programming. Previous work has shown that a particular program representation which supports structure abstraction is very effective in solving the general even parity problem.

Genetic search for structural matching

1996
This paper describes a novel framework for performing relational graph matching using genetic search. The fitness measure is the recently reported global consistency measure of Wilson and Hancock. The basic measure of relational distance underpinning the technique is Hamming distance.

A harmonic structure of the genetic code

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2004
In this paper is presented a new, very harmonic structure of the genetic code (GC) within a system of "4 x 5" (and/or of "5 x 4") of amino acids (AAs) in two variants. In first variant, the five rows within the system start with one polar charged amino acid (AA) each, making first column, consisting from five polar charged AAs (D, R, K, H, E).
